Dang Heather, great job on the stair master! That will really strengthen your legs!
So smart to stay out of that heat.

@eeyorepoohfan Way to go Heather! I can’t imagine doing the stairmaster for that long, that sounds like some kind of torture to me! That is awesome that you guys are finding ways to keep up with your training, while avoiding the heat

So due to our crazy high temps this week, we are taking a run rest week. We went to the gym just to get some escalator stair master work in. It was our first time doingbthis do we took it easy. In 13 minutes I climbed 42 flights of stairs! It felt like an hour! Working on getting the glutes and quads stronger!!

Awesome job! Keep hitting those stairs. It pays dividends.

I agree, those stairs sound like torture! But great job @eeyorepoohfan on getting some cross training in when the heat benched you from running. It’s much easier to Netflix and chill

@bexruns Did you get out for your run? We are miserably hot this week and not likely running until this weekend when we get closer to normal.

Nope. It was still in the 90s when I got home. I did do weights though, so there’s that!
I MAY go tonight, but no promises. The one thing I have promised myself though is that starting this weekend (after Hannah leaves) is when I’ll jump back into it hardcore.

@bexruns Smart plan! And hopefully the temps will start to drop by then! I think we get closer to normal temps starting Sunday. Good job getting weight work done!

Thanks everyone! Let me tell you, those 13 minutes felt never ending!!!! I was shocked I actually hit 42 flights of stairs! I will be sure to throw this workout in throughout Dopey training!!! And surprisingly, I’m not sore today!

Good job @bexruns! You’re still doing something even with the heat!
Glad you’re not sore @eeyorepoohfan! That’s very encouraging!

I’ve been walking in the mornings or evenings as much as I can since summer started. On average I’ve been going about 5 times a week and I’ve been walking about 2 miles each time. Since it’s 100% rain for the rest of the day I decided I’d spend some time on my elliptical. I’m glad that I got up and did something. It would have been so easy to skip with all the rain. This weather just makes you want to be lazy.

@bexruns You go girl! We have some crazy heat here (105* on Friday last week) but luckily it’s usually below 70* until 8am so there’s a window there for me to run

@bexruns We sound so similar in temps right now! It was still around 90* when we went to bed at 10pm! Just insane! We walked the dog this morning at it was 89* at 9am. Needless to say, we cut her walk short. Ended up doing just over a mile. We will be 104* today and 109-111* for Thursday and Friday! :surprised:

@disneybug, way to go! That was awesome to not shuck it all and get on the elliptical! I’m a walker too, knees just won’t let me run long distances anymore and my wife just doesn’t run, so I  you! We’re still out doing it, just at a verrrrry slooooow run. ;) Proud of you!
