Happy Princess 5k day to @breesmommy5 and all of the other runners out there this morning… Hope you had a magical race!
March 9, 2022 at 6:46 am #155217Thank you so much ! It was an awesome race and the three hours went by so fast! I appreciate everyone鈥檚 support !!
June 11, 2023 at 4:26 pm #166136Just poking around the site today and remembered this thread.
I really miss running and posting here and chatting with everyone!
Hope everyone is still killin it out there!!!June 12, 2023 at 5:12 pm #166173@missingWDW I had forgotten about this thread! I’m rarely on d-cot, besides to put on background music. I haven’t really ran since March 2020 when our race got cancelled and then the next race was cancelled in November 2020. I literally lost all motivation to run and have yet to find it. I do miss running though. And I keep saying that I need to get back out there! Well, now it’s summer and we will be hitting 100* tomorrow. So we won’t cool down much overnight anymore so my opportunity will be very limited. But I am trying to convince myself to just get up early and try to give it a go! I did get out and run/walk 1 mile a week or two ago and I didn’t die! So I just need to start with slow and steady short runs to build up my endurance again. I have 2 virtual medals to still earn! They are still in their boxes in the closet. They will not be displayed until I’ve earned them. I have a 10k and a half marathon to complete. I hope others have still continued their running journey!
June 13, 2023 at 1:35 pm #166195I actually hadn’t gone for a run in a long time until the 6 weeks after Easter this year. I joined in a challenge with 2 other guys that involved doing twice a week, “run, walk, or crawl a 5k” among many other things. I’m pleased to say that I think I did pretty well considering it had been a year or more since my last endurance run.
June 14, 2023 at 7:47 pm #166226@eeyorepoohfan SAME for me with the cancellations! I was all set to do a half in April 2020, then again the following year. both were cancelled. Since then I’ve been dealing with one injury after another. Now my knee is shot. I keep saying I’m going to get back at it, but honestly I think that’s a pipe dream. I am going to make another appointment with the ortho and have him go in and see what’s going on exactly. A big part of me doesn’t really want to know because I don’t want to hear my running days are over
School is out for me next week, so hopefully I can get in to see him again soon after that. If I do have surgery, I’d like it to be in the summer when I’m off work. We’ll see.
Best of luck to you finishing your virtual races!!!!
You got this girl!
June 14, 2023 at 7:49 pm #166227@RocketEAR99 Congrats on the 5K
Just keep swimming!!!
June 14, 2023 at 11:12 pm #166230@rocketear99 wahoo!! Way to go!!!!
@missingwdw oh no! I鈥檓 sorry to hear your knee is still giving you such issues! Sometimes ignorance is bliss with injuries. But on the clip side, it鈥檚 helpful to know how to proceed forward! I pray the ortho has some answers and solution for you! And I truly do hope you can get back out on the running trail again one day! Thank you! I will try to remember to post when I get back into training again! I need to earn this medals!June 9, 2024 at 9:28 am #174472Hello my running pals from long long ago!
I am taking the plunge this Friday and having meniscus surgery.
Really hoping I can at the very least be able to just have normal function back.
I would also LOVE to be able to work out again without issue.
My biggest hope…. RUNNING AGAIN!!!!!!!!
Looking for all the pixie dust in the world!!
I hope everyone here is healthy and stays healthy and I hope you are all running your hearts out killin it out there!!
June 9, 2024 at 3:08 pm #174483@missingWDW oh wow Jen! I am sending all my prayers and pixie dust for a successful surgery and quick recovery. To be without pain and be able to do what you want to do and move will be wonderful.
June 9, 2024 at 6:18 pm #174484@missingWDW I hope all goes well with the surgery.
June 9, 2024 at 8:33 pm #174485@missingWDW Hi Jen, I am sorry to hear that your knee has been giving you problems and that surgery is scheduled. I had meniscus surgery 10+ years ago and I was worried as well. However, after recovery and PT, I was able to begin running again. Praying for a successful surgery and for a full recovery. AND that would find your love for running again on the other side.
June 10, 2024 at 11:32 am #174495@missingWDW sending you all the pixie dust!
I have also struggled with running since 2020. I took a break after Dopey and then when the world ended I stayed inside. Couldn’t go to the gym and even our local trails were closed for a while. When I started to get back into it later that year – I discovered I had plantar fasciitis
even walking and standing was excruciating, let alone running. It has been a loooooong road to recovery but I think I’m finally starting to recover. I miss running so much!
June 10, 2024 at 3:05 pm #174496Thanks Scott!
I’m hoping for the same!
Are you guys still walking???June 10, 2024 at 3:09 pm #174497Thanks Andy!
It would be an amazing gift to be able to even do a 5K in the future…although I really want to run a half again.
Go big or go home!
