    @starbee @bexruns
    Thanks! :blush: I’ve been trying to make better decisions not only from a physical standpoint but also a diet one as well. It’s not easy when you have been eating for two for a year and a half. Seeing all of your posts on this thread have definitely given me some much needed motivation and encouragement! Not sure I’ll ever be a runner. I didn’t like it even back in the day when I used to play soccer lol. But I would like to try and stay at the walking/elliptical.

    @disneybug, way to go! That was awesome to not shuck it all and get on the elliptical! I’m a walker too, knees just won’t let me run long distances anymore and my wife just doesn’t run, so I :clap: you! We’re still out doing it, just at a verrrrry slooooow run. ;) Proud of you!

    Thanks Scott!! :blush: I’m glad to hear I’m not the only walker on here! I really enjoy getting a good walk in. I’m very blessed to have a nice neighborhood to “Disney Walk” through. We call it Disney walking when we are moving quickly. I love to put on a good track from the jukebox and take off! :up: :ears:

    OMG are you my twin? That is exactly what we call it too! Disney Walk, verb, what you do when it’s rope drop and you want to make it to your first headliner ride or it’s after fireworks and you want to beat the crowds out and head to bed. LOL

    Haha apparently so! LOL Yes I have “Disney Walked” to get to a ride or the parking lot on many occasions! It’s the best way to get from Point A to Point B! :up: :up:

    Glad we can be some encouragement! Yes I’m trying to eat better too, it’s hard though when I have no idea what to make and Sonic has half price cheeseburgers on a Tuesday LOL I don’t enjoy running at this stage, I hope that will come later. That’s just because it’s so hard for me right now. I enjoyed it in high school when I ran track. But if you just keep walking, that’s fine too, it’s good exercise and a necessary skill for WDW ;)

    So after an excruciatingly painfully sloooooow 5k at the Pancreatic Cancer Research walk on Saturday due to out of shape and old family members, we got a good hour of fast walk in on Sunday morning at one of our Metroparks. That worked out to be over a 5k I’m sure, the trail we walked wasn’t quite that distance but we did a fair amount extra to round out the hour. Last night after dinner, with full bellies even, we got a nice “training run” in of another hour. My wife is great and fast for 2.1 miles! We just need to work her stamina up for that last mile. Only walking, no jogging due to above mentioned full bellies, we clicked off a 17 minute mile pace. Jogging just a little bit here and there will easily cut off a minute. Plan to come to the track here at the university on Saturday morning and see how we do a 5k in the controlled environment of the track. That will be good to see.

    @Nascfan Two 5ks in one weekend! Great job! :clap: yes I think the terrain makes a difference for sure, not just inclines but whether it’s grass, asphalt, concrete, a treadmill, I’ve noticed a difference for me

    @starbee Yes y’all have definitely been encouraging to me! :blush: I feel the same way about cooking. What is it about picking out what you are going to cook that’s so difficult?! I feel like that’s the worst part of the whole process. Worse than actually going to the store and/or cooking. Lol I love Sonic too, & Whataburger, DQ, Chick-Fil-A, etc. LOL
    But when I eat junk, I feel like junk. I don’t want to feel that way. I’m trying to eat more fruits and veggies too. I hope you can get to the point where you do enjoy it too. You’ll get there! Just stay after it. Take it one day at a time.

    Yes! You’re so right, that is the worst part :down: and same as you, when I eat junk, I feel like junk which is why I try to do better. I don’t enjoy feeling that way and always regret it. I eat fruit at least twice a day, dinners and lunches are just so hard for me.

    I decided to run again this morning (second run this week) so that by the time the week is out I’ll have gotten 3 runs in. But my June Virtual Running Shorts 5k is tomorrow so maybe that was a mistake… today was the toughest run I’ve done in 5 weeks :|

    I ran 1 mile in 15:24. Leia was with me and she did pretty good, just got a little distracted at one point by a dog in the distance. I was trying to do my second run on the 2 min run/2 min walk ratio. I did that earlier this week and while it was challenging, I did it. This time it was so tough I absolutely couldn’t and I don’t know why. The first 2 min run I had to stop 15 seconds shy of 2 minutes. After that I could only do 1 min or a minute and a half. For some reason it felt like someone had punched me in the chest and throat and it hurt too bad to finish up my 2 minutes of running – every time :'(

    I’ve never had that happen before so I don’t know what the deal is or why my chest hurt so bad. Maybe I need to learn better breathing? I’m pretty sure I was hydrated, I was drinking a 16oz glass of water about every other hour all day long yesterday. Drank 1 cup of coffee at 8am, no other caffeine or alcohol the rest of the day. I’ll keep at it, but this was really disappointing because until this point I felt like I was slowly getting better, now I feel like I’ve regressed. I feel sometimes like the only person on the planet who will just never be able to run no matter how hard I try.

    @starbee don’t be so hard on yourself. The road is full of 3 steps forward, 1 or 2 steps back. It could have been so many things, humidity, just being tired from the week, maybe your breathing was a little different this time, just about anything. You will get to your goal of running a full 5k eventually. It may take a while but you are doing just fine. Just keep doing, keep going and it will get there.

    Looks like at least a few of us will be doing 5k’s tomorrow…. you, us, Kelly just off the top of my head. Good luck to all!

    I admire those of you that can run and do. I personally just don’t like it. I try to do cardio tho so hopefully when the zombie apocalypse comes I at least have a fighting chance. And I am not a fruit fan so I’ll just stick to veggies. :)
