Just a thought… I’d love it if someone invented a way of synching running with a video, similar to what they did at Wonders of Life with those stationary bikes. It’d be so cool to virtually “run” through Disney (or anywhere) in that same spirit! I know they have those bikes that are led by an actual trainer, but for this kid, that would seem a lot less fun!

10dedfish177 XPThere’s nothing wrong with a rest day! Today was our rest day! We usually don’t do any workout on Thursdays! Just hop back to it tomorrow and you will be all set!
I think I take too many rest days Monday and Thursday this week so far but I get what you’re saying. The first C25K program I tried last year for my 5k had me running 6 days a week, with a rest day Wednesday. I felt like I was getting tendonitis after 3 weeks so I switched to something else. It’s important to rest!
You really only need to run 3 times a week for shorter distances. Two if your just maintaining.

I know that there are some videos of the wine n dine, you could play those on an iPad while your run on the treadmill
June 9, 2017 at 8:48 am #32423@kcboston what incline do you set your treadmill to?
So far zero point zero
June 9, 2017 at 8:49 am #32424You’ll get there at your own pace! This week I’ve hit a bit of a wall, so I think I need to change things up in order to continue. Do you have a goal in mind for the first 5k? I have no idea if I want to set a goal time, or just wing it and see how I do
Thanks! I forgot you run on a treadmill, that sounds complicated to keep switching walk/run speeds plus track your time ratios on a treadmill. For my first 5k my goal is to keep doing my run/walk ratio for the entire 3.1 miles. What ratio I’ll use I haven’t decided yet, it depends how training goes. My last 5k I completed in 38 something, I can’t remember the seconds, I was just so glad to be done :p that was also doing a run/walk ratio but not to set times, I just went with what I felt I could do at the time. So I would like to at least not be slower than that, but I’m more concerned about just doing the 3.1 and not walking the whole thing. But by the time I do the final 5k, ideally I want to run 3.1 without taking any walk breaks but we’ll see.

Set the incline at 2. It will better simulate an actual road race. That will help you in the long run.

I know there are some gyms now that have treadmills with big screens that show something like a forest so it feels like you’re running outside. I think it moves along with you but I’ve never done one. You can change your atmosphere. If I could so something like that with a Disney video like they had at Wonders of Life that would be awesome! I’d be very motivated

Thank you for the help! I really appreciate it! I’m just so anxious to improve :p

10dedfish177 XPYou guys are doing fine. The important thing is to not quit. Trust in c25k app and modify speed rather than stop. Feel free to redo a day or a whole week if you feel you need it. The only person you race against right now is yourself.
June 9, 2017 at 9:01 am #324336 days a week seems kind of crazy to me! The one I’m doing now is 3 days a week, and I think that’s all I can handle without my knees revolting. You’re doing awesome, but I know it’s too easy to be tough on yourself. Just think, you’ve probably run more this month than you did all the prior months of 2017 combined!
It was crazy! I didn’t realize it at the time because it was a mix of walking and running starting with only 15 minutes total, so I didn’t think it was bad. But it turned out to be too intense. I stopped for like 2 weeks then started a different program and had absolutely no issues. Thanks! it’s true, I have run more in May and June than I did January-April

Thanks pal! I am already having to re-do a couple weeks because I can’t keep up, but that’s okay, I’m still going. I read a phrase the other day that said something like “You’re not a failure until you quit trying”. It’s kinda cheesy, but that’s my mantra right now

This.
It’s so easy to get down on yourself when you feel like you’re not doing as well as you should be. But like he said, you’re only competing against yourself.
That’s what I have to tell myself during races too. I’m never going to win a race (unless it’s a really small race and even then maybe just an AG award) so I just want to see myself doing better over time. You can’t be the best you every single day.June 9, 2017 at 9:15 am #32441@starbee, 10dedfish and kcboston are right, six days a week is too much. Your body needs time to rest, recover, muscles to rejuvenate. Great job on the run this morning with Leia!

It would even convince me to start running!
