bexruns374 XPAggravated with myself this morning. Somehow slept thru my 4AM alarm. Didn’t have enough time to run before Abby’s meds.
You need the sleep, friend.
I was out way too late on a Monday and barely even got up for work this morning. So now I need to run immediately after work before my reunion meeting.
My next race fortunately is only a 10k in September so I’ll be ok. But oy. Getting back on the old horse is harder than ever this time.July 18, 2017 at 10:26 am #39324
10dedfish177 XPThanks everyone.
I guess I have to accept that I cant stay up all night, work all day and party all evening anymore.
What is everyone doing for lunch? I had 4 oz grilled venison, 2.6 oz grilled chicken, and 8 oz of Albacore Tuna with some NC BBQ sauce (vinegar based). 103 g of Protein and 15 g of fat.
July 18, 2017 at 10:28 am #39325@RocketEAR99 You have a fantastic backyard for running!!! Lucky!!
July 18, 2017 at 10:30 am #39327@10dedfish Don’t be hard on yourself! Your body is obviously tired and needed to rest! We all have to listen to our bodies when they tell us we are in need of a rest day. Otherwise you can be setting yourself up for injury.
July 18, 2017 at 10:31 am #39328I have my next paced run this afternoon hopefully. Depends on if it thunder storms or not. I guess my legs have recovered from my run this past weekend
I hope the thunderstorm holds off and you can get your run in!
July 18, 2017 at 10:32 am #39329Last night got onto the my Dreadmill because it was too muggy outside, AND there were thunderstorms around our town threatening to rain on my parade I ended up doing one of my ‘baby runs’, and then stretched it out and foam rolled for a good 20 minutes afterwards . While I was really hoping for some fresh air, it was a solid run.
2.1 miles
21.22Ugh, the dreadmill! You did great!!!! Stay safe in those thunderstorms! Best to run inside if it looks iffy for sure!
July 18, 2017 at 10:37 am #39331Promise I will read through the whole thread later. I have only done a handful of 5ks, but I like doing them. I am participating in the Pluto virtual races this summer. I envy all of you that can go out in this horrid humidity and run. I get heat stroke easily and can’t, so I either go out very early in the morning or as the sun sets (if the humidity is decreased). My times aren’t great, but I keep pushing. Eventually, I want to participate in a 5k, 10k and half marathon in Disney. That’s my end goal.
Welcome to the group!!! All levels are warmly welcomed and we all have our own goals. We are here to support you and cheer you on! How fun that you are doing the Pluto virtual 5k series! There are a few others doing them on here as well! Be safe in the heat and humidity! I too have heat sensitivity issues (and I live in the desert of southern New Mexico). Our humidity is usually low but we are in our summer monsoon season now, so our humidity first thing in the morning has been 70%+ and temps in the low 70’s. I’m training for the Dopey Challenge right now in January and it will be my first full marathon!
July 18, 2017 at 10:41 am #39334@bexruns I’m sorry you had a tough time getting up this morning. I know how that goes! I hope the temps are kind to you this evening! You’ve got this! I’m glad your next race is a 10k and nothing longer too! Otherwise that’s a lot more pressure with the challenges of the heat of summer running! I can’t wait for Fall training!! I’m looking forward to those cooler temps!
July 18, 2017 at 10:44 am #39335Thanks everyone.

Haha! Are you getting old, Matt?!?! I can barely stay awake all day most days! And I never feel bad when I fall asleep at 9:30pm! We get up at 5:15am most days for our runs in the summer.
You rock your Nutrition! I’m not great at that or counting! I’m having Chick-fil-a nuggets and salad! Then a huge Starbucks coffee!!July 18, 2017 at 10:46 am #39340

July 18, 2017 at 10:47 am #39341So everyone says the hardest part of running the Dopey Challenge is the sleep deprivation due to 4 days in a row of super early wake ups. Well, have no fear, we apparently are incorporating sleep deprivation into our training plan now! ????????That huge thunderstorm last night kept us awake from 11pm-1:30am. Poor Winnie was scared and slept in our room, but that went much better this time, we took off her collar to sleep! It was crazy humid this morning from the storm. But I managed 5 miles at an 11:46 minute/mile pace! And I did it in under 59 minutes!!!! Ryan gave me a mile head start today. I managed to stay ahead of him until mile 4.5, then I chased him to the finish! There was a lot of water flowing through our water runoff areas. I was also thankful to see the running trail cleanup crew out this morning! Sand and rocks cover parts of our running path after big storms.
July 18, 2017 at 10:48 am #39343Thanks everyone.

No way is my lunch nearly as healthy as Matt’s but I did have an apple for my morning snack!
July 18, 2017 at 10:53 am #39345Great job @eeyorepoohfan! Your time is decreasing, that is awesome! Poor Winnie with the storms. I’m glad she was able to sleep with you guys for comfort and that it went pretty well.

I really need to drop a good 10-15 pounds, but that never seems to happen! I’m almost 38 years old and it seems to get harder each year to drop the weight!
