missingWDW183 XPIt’s time for me to get back to chatting here and posting about my runs. I’m scheduled to run a half at the end of April and I’m not even close to being serious about training for it. My diet is atrocious and my weight shows it. Ok, whatever. I can still run, right? Only I don’t ever push myself when I run now. I just give in and walk. Ugh! And now I’ve got this funky knobby bump under my knee that freakin hurts! I keep putting off going to the orthopedic because I know they will tell me R.I.C.E.
I CANT STOP RUNNING!!! I barely get my miles in as it is!
I’m just a mess lately!
Where are the running gods when you need them???!!!
January 31, 2020 at 5:47 pm #124227@missingWDW I FEEL YOU COMPLETELY!!! My training since Dopey (which I completed 2 years ago) has been atrocious for every race I’ve ran since then. My diet his horrible, the weight gain is real. Yet, I can’t convince myself to go out and run!!! BUT my suggestion with ALL injuries is to get things checked out and to rest when appropriate. You will never do yourself any favors by running while sick or injured, it just delays that healing process! I have a race near the end of April and haven’t started training yet! We had our half at WDW 3 weeks ago. We didn’t run for at least 3 weeks before the race and I haven’t ran since! AND our training was almost non-existent the entire time!

missingWDW183 XP@eeyorepoohfan I know I can’t put the doc off any longer. I fell outside work last year and went to a doc on a workman’s comp claim. It was a joke. Eventually told them to close my case because I was just wasting time with them. Useless. But of course I kept running and never went to my own orthopedic. So now the original injury bothers me still, and this new one popped up a little over a month ago. So, in the words of Rafiki, It is time!
I know I’m going to be told to rest.
I just hope there is enough time left before the race for me to get some training in. Oh, and I hope I heal
January 31, 2020 at 7:37 pm #124229@missingwdw It is time! Oh man! That stinks though! I’m sorry it was a joke and not worth the time to go! You will have enough time to train, even with some rest! Just build up miles again slowly!
January 31, 2020 at 7:48 pm #124230Oh @missingwdw I feel so bad for you! Please do get in and get it checked so you can heal! Better to take the time now as February starts than in April just before your half! Prayers for a quick healing for you!

lemontwist499 XPFinally getting committed to running again after having done marathons & half marathons up until several years ago when I broke my ankle. I ran 13 miles total last week, and am making the time to fit running into my ungodly busy spring semester schedule. Hoping to run a 5k in March, 10k in April, and half marathon in September. Maybe I’ll get to do WDW again some day!
February 4, 2020 at 2:20 pm #124396@lemontwist way to go! Coming back from an injury like that is long and never easy! Very proud of you! Would love to meet you at a runDisney event one day!

lemontwist499 XP@connie96 that’s really cool! Do you color in each square (okay they’re not actually squares but hopefully you know what I mean) as you get more miles?
February 10, 2020 at 4:56 pm #124703Thanks, @nascfan!
@lemontwist, yes, I color as I get the miles. Each space has a number of miles (1-7) in it and I color in a total of 10 miles at a time so I don’t have to keep notes of which miles I’ve colored and which ones I haven’t. This is the first time I’ve done a color poster for a mileage goal and I don’t think I’ll ever NOT do a goal this way again. As a person with obsessive/compulsive tendencies, the fact that I can’t sit down and color it all at once kinda makes me twitchy. The unfinished poster has me pretty darn motivated to get the miles just so I can get closer to finishing it. I *need* to finish the poster.February 15, 2020 at 1:36 pm #125030
missingWDW183 XPWhy do so many holidays revolve around chocolate???
Thinking I need another dcot challenge to keep me motivated and away form the dark chocolate!

RIDisneyPinGuy182 XPAlready 2+ weeks behind in training… Sinus infection that progressed into pneumonia in both lungs. Almost feeling okay, and hope to start with walking this week.
