Member Spotlight: Contributing Contributors – Julia

Not only will contributions give you special benefits here at D-COT, but those with the Contributor label gives you insight, information, news, rumors, history and fun.  I am embarking on a new series where I asked our contributors questions and will share them with you.

First to be published is our Julia. She covers merchandise and food for D-COT.  Let’s take a moment with our newest contributor and learn a bit about her.

dngnb8:  First, thank you for participating in this little Q&A.  What is your Disney Dream Job, and why?
Julia:  That is a loaded question! I actually have a couple. In the short-term, I would love to be “friends” with Alice or one of the stepsisters because I think they are the most interesting meet and greets. However, at 5’6″, I think I am too tall for Alice.  I’d also like to work on one of the cruises for a summer just so I can explore the world a bit. In the long term, I would love to write a screenplay for Disney! Realistically, maybe write for their marketing team.

dngnb8:  Those are some lofty dreams.  Maybe that cruise assignment will be on the Disney Dream?

dngnb8:  What does your handle mean and the story behind it?

Julia:  Well, my name is Julia, so that’s pretty much it. lol Although, my handle used to be ”sonicyouth666.” The story behind that is I kept trying to make an account but it would never send the confirmation email, however it would register my username, so I kept running out of usernames. Then, frustrated, I tried ”sonicyouth666” and unfortunately that one worked. ;P  then a couple months later, I asked Steve to change my username to ”Julia,” because I thought sonicyouth666 was waaaay to angsty LOL.

dngnb8:  I’ve thought of asking Steve to change mine too, but I’ve been dngnb8 online for … well ever so I am just hanging with it.

dngnb8: When was your last trip to a Disney Park and what memory is the strongest?

Julia: My last trip to Disney was actually a couple weeks ago! I took a solo trip and stayed at ASMu. My strongest memory is getting stuck on Nemo, because after a couple minutes a cast member actually walked by with a flashlight and I had never seen that before so I thought that was pretty neat. I love getting to see ”behind the scenes” stuff.

dngnb8: Oooh, that is so cool.  I’ve never been escorted through the back stage stuff like that. Awesome experience.

dngnb8:  Imagine you get to interview the man himself, Walt Disney. What 3 questions would you ask?
Julia: Oof. This is hard. Okay, I would ask him:
1. Do you regret basically ruining Adriana Caselotti’s chance of having a career in show business?
2. What was it like working with Mary Blair?
3. If you could erase the existence of any Disney movie, would you and what would it be?

dngnb8:  Impressively tough lead off question.  I am also a big fan of Mary Blairs work.  Currently on D23 they have a review of her “It’s a Small World” art.

dngnb8:  What is your favorite Disney Movie and why?
Julia:  It used to be The Little Mermaid, but now I think it’s Beauty and the Beast (the animated version, of course.) I just think it’s the perfect love story, and the music is timeless. Also, I love that it was written by a woman because it gives me hope that maybe one day I too could write something as beautiful as that movie.

dngnb8:  Well, hopefully writing for D-COT can be a little inspiration for that story.

dngnb8:  Last question. You write about ”Merchandise and Food mostly”. What about that topic intrigues/motivates you?
Julia:  I like writing about Disney merch because I have a mild shopping addiction, and it’s just fun to write about it in general. I also LOVE Disney food, especially anything Mickey shaped. (  :mbar: for the win!!) My goal is to one day eat at every restaurant on Disney property, so being a contributor on here really motivates me to try a new restaurant each trip so I have something new to write about.
dngnb8: Mild addiction?  LOL.  I would love to join you on the food tour!

Well, that is it for this first interview of a contributor.  I hope you learned something about our newest contributor Julia.  I found it quite interesting myself.  Stay tuned for our next interview with SEJ101.

dngnb8 is one of our contributors to D-COT and helps provide some very interesting historical info as well as the latest official Disney news.
