April 23, 2019 at 8:52 am #108123@breesmommy5 Wow! you increased your distance fast and held a great pace! @nascfan is right, you’re so far ahead in your training maybe you should go for the half
April 23, 2019 at 9:02 am #108126@starbee I appreciate your confidence but that will never happen!
April 23, 2019 at 9:13 am #108129@nascfan Never say never I guess! I didn’t think I’d ever be able to run more than a quarter mile!
April 23, 2019 at 5:44 pm #108167That would be a great goal @nascfan ! With all your steps I know you could do it !!
April 24, 2019 at 9:13 am #108212I listened to Jocko and got out an ran this morning first time I’ve done a morning run in quite some time! I was supposed to run last night but couldn’t due to storms. Tis the season. I took Leia with me and we ran in the neighborhood for 4 miles. It was 55* – so perfect! It was quite the challenging run for Leia, she saw 5 bunnies and 3 cats along the way I also tested out a Honey Stinger Gel. I think it helped! I didn’t feel hungry, thirsty, or tired at any point, but it was also first thing in the morning so maybe I need to keep testing it out. My stomach handled it great too!
Time: 46:08
Distance: 4.00 miles
Pace: 11’31”Much slower pace today than usual for that distance. I guess I’m still a little sore/tired from Saturday’s 7 miler, I don’t know. Not a big deal, I got it done and reached 10,000 steps before I left for work! I may run again tomorrow but I haven’t decided yet. Running tomorrow would be 2 consecutive days. I won’t run Friday because Saturday is my 10k!
April 24, 2019 at 9:43 am #108221Way to go @starbee! You could also still be a bit drained from getting sick Sunday evening. You did great! I will be cheering you loudly for your 10k! You got this girl!
April 24, 2019 at 10:04 am #108227That’s great @starbee !! Good luck on your 10k ! You will do great !!
I’m wiped out today, yesterday wore me out
April 24, 2019 at 7:29 pm #108265@RocketEAR99 What flavor of Tailwind did you get? They have 6-8 different flavors and one is unflavored! She may need to get the samples of each one. She absolutely will need to find electrolytes she can use to get her through Dopey. So won’t be able to get miles in on just water. She will eventually start to sweat out way too much. I used to use Hammer Nutrition Heed. But for some reason it started to bother my stomach a couple years ago. That’s when I switched to Tailwind. Or have her try it more diluted to start with and slowly start building up to the proper ratio. I just don’t want her tanking, especially coming into summer training season. PS You and Christy are doing great on your training runs! I haven’t had time to pop on here to comment, but I’ve read all the posts in this forum! You guys are right on track for an amazing Dopey, even a bit ahead of schedule! But it’s best to get the body in the habit of running now!
@starbee I am so proud of you! Building up those miles and your pace nicely! Keep at it!
@breesmommy5 Look at you go! You are flying up on your speed and your miles! You will be up to a half marathon before you know it!!April 24, 2019 at 7:52 pm #108271Sorry for my absence folks! I have read all of your posts and am proud of all of you for rocking your training! Keep it up!! So my training has been on hold for a bit. I did my 11th half marathon at Star Wars Rival Run Weekend at WDW on April 7th! I did get one 5k training run in before the race while we were there too. The half went way better than last year! I shaved off nearly 30 minutes off my time! Even if you remove the Ewok picture stop I waited for last year, I was still around 20 minutes faster! I felt much better and had no blister or feet issues during the race. But the temps drained me fast this year! It was 68* and 98% humidity at the start of our race at 5:30am! So I was beat red and dripping sweat before mile 2! My plan was to stay with the 2 hour 45 minute finish time pace group that was running a 30/30 interval. We found they were pacing faster than that at the start. We fell behind by mile 2! It was a big pace group and it seemed like it took too long for us to be able to run when they started running. Their walk pace was just too fast for me. But Ryan ran with me for the first 6-7 miles. I told him I was okay but just going to have to slow down my pacing because I was overheating and told him to go finish the race at his pace. I had told him before the race that I possibly might tell him to do that. I had my “cool cloth” soaking in water within the first 5 miles and dumping water on myself to stay cool. I found I had to alternate my run/walk intervals between 30/30, 30/60 and 30/90 just to keep my body in check. I was so nauseated from the heat. But I listened to my body and did what I could! I really wanted to finish in under 2:45 as a dream goal. But really wanted to finish under 3 hours because it’s been a long time since I’ve done a half under 3 hours and I know I can do it. I finished in 3 hours and 12 minutes and was darn proud of it! I fought hard for that finish! One of these days I will get a sub 3 hour half at WDW! I’ve done it several times at Disneyland! But the heat and humidity of April races at WDW just gets me! This desert girl isn’t used to it! Since we’ve been home, our pollen has still been crazy high. So I finally got my butt in gear and finished my 4th day of Insanity Asylum today! I figure if I can’t get out to run I better be doing something! We are thinking of joining the gym again. It’s my least favorite way to exercise. But if our winds and pollen and air quality keep staying horribly, I really don’t have another option. I do miss running though. So I really hope that in the next month I can get out for some short runs!
April 25, 2019 at 5:24 am #108292@eeyorepoohfan that was a hot and very muggy Half! You did just fantastic! Especially making it through the ground fog where the serial killer with the machete was!
I am super proud of you for getting back to working out when you can’t run, you are doing great! I’m sad you can’t run, I know you want to, stupid winds and pollen! But you keep it up, you’re awesome!April 25, 2019 at 10:32 am #108364@nascfan It was seriously the muggiest race I’ve done! Totally could have cut the humidity with a knife! I almost felt like I could swim it! I couldn’t believe that it never lifted either! Thank you! Trying to get back to it! My muscles are being awoken and they aren’t sure how to respond! I am pretty awesome!
