April 18, 2019 at 7:24 am #107682Great job !! @10dedfish !!
April 18, 2019 at 8:58 am #107714@10dedfish I’ve done that before and it’s rough! You still did great!
April 19, 2019 at 8:45 am #1078504 miles last night! Beautiful weather, partly cloudy and 65* but the 16 mph headwinds were rough! Felt like a lot stronger than that! Leia and I went to the trail and had a great run!
Time: 42:31
Distance: 4.00 miles
Pace: 10’37”My left calf muscle felt super tight for some reason even after stretching so I’m a little sore today. Despite that I made a good time! Looking at my splits from yesterday, my second and fourth mile were the exact same time – 10’26”

April 20, 2019 at 1:17 pm #107929Really ramping it up now on the Dopey training plan! today’s run was the longest distance I have ever run! It went pretty well. I ran alone because that would have been too much for Leia, she only has experience running 3-4 miles on a regular basis right now. I ran at a different trail to usual, one that goes for 11 miles. I don’t like it because there’s tons of hills and it’s not as scenic, it runs alongside a turnpike. I’ve done it before but I don’t enjoy it. It’s just easy for longer runs because it has the distance and it’s 5 minutes from home.
Time: 01:21:02
Distance: 7.00 miles
Pace: 11’34”I tried out some new electrolytes today and they seemed to work pretty well! I also tried out some new compression socks. They are definitely not as cushioned as the socks I usually run in and I could feel that, but my calves held up a lot better. It didn’t feel like I ran 7 miles when I was done! Mile 6 and 7 were kinda tough but I think a lot of that was because I was so over the hills at that point. I dropped my ratio down to 60 sec/30 sec run/walk instead of 90/30 for the entire run. I think I would have struggled had I not done that. Oh and also I think part of the struggle was overdressing. It was 47* when I left so I wore capris but after the second mile it was already 60* and by the time I finished it was 67*. I should have worn shorts. But overall I am feeling good about my training!
April 20, 2019 at 1:58 pm #107930@starbee WAY TO GO!!! 7 miles and excellent time on it too! So proud of you You’re catching up to us pretty quick!
We just did a distance run today too:
Distance: 8.00 miles
Time: 01:41:55
Pace: 12’44”Full stats here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/3574531386
The rain was pretty heavy around here so we were glad it tapered off for the run. I used a full packet of TailWind and I’m happy to say it lasted for the entire run, but I am finding out it’s good to have a sip of plain water now and then. We ran 2 trails at Bass River State Forest in South Jersey’s Pine Barrens. Nice and flat with sandy or pine needle covered trails. We stopped once at the car for water and once at the restroom, so that did slow us down a bit during mile 5. Otherwise we feel accomplished!
April 20, 2019 at 4:35 pm #107936@rocketear99 Thank you! seeing your accomplishments here, and knowing that you and I are similar in our running experience and abilities, really motivates me. I know if you can do it, I can do it! I’m glad the rain backed off for you. You and Christy did amazing!! Long distance and great pace! I bought some Tailwind last week and I need to try it out. Do you drink it before you run? I’m not sure if I should drink it beforehand or during my run which is why I haven’t used it yet that trail sounds beautiful! I wish we had more scenic trails around here. There are a few but they don’t have long distances. I got slowed down on my run by having to cross intersections and stopping to use a water fountain to refill my water bottle. I consider it practicing for character stops
April 20, 2019 at 5:01 pm #107938@starbee Thanks! Full disclosure – Christy doesn’t use Tailwind because she doesn’t like the taste. She sticks with water. As for me, I use a full packet in my 20oz running bottle. I sip a little of it starting about 15 minutes before my run and then sip some every half mile or so during my run. I could see using a half packet for 20oz of water to dilute it more, but haven’t tried that yet.
YES! That’s pretty much what I think about not pausing for stops too. Character stops!
April 20, 2019 at 5:17 pm #107940Oh my gosh great job @starbee and @rocketear99 ! Wow, you both did fantastic! 7 and 8 miles, and at really solid, great paces! This gives you a good cushion to slow it down on even longer runs and through the races, you are well on your way! Dopey 2020 is yours for the taking!
April 20, 2019 at 5:44 pm #107941@starbee that’s awesome !! Great job !!
April 20, 2019 at 7:02 pm #107948@nascfan Thanks Pal!!!
April 20, 2019 at 8:42 pm #107954@breesmommy5 Thank you!
@nascfan Thank you!! I’m not worried (right now at least!) about my pace for Dopey. I’m pretty confident I can be under the requirement. What I am worried about it screwing it up with character stops and I can’t practice that beforehand. I’m not going to stop for every one I see, but I would like to stop for a few because that’s part of why you runDisney! Hopefully I can research what characters are likely to be around and make a short list, but even then it could be hard to judge. What’s a long line? 10 people? 20 people?April 20, 2019 at 9:07 pm #107956I can tell you from pre-race experience that they click the lines along pretty quickly. You don’t have the kids with the autograph books so it’s pretty much a snap and go. I personally would consider a 20 person line long, but 10, yeah that should easily be doable. And you’ll have your pace guage I’m sure so you can see how the stoppage is doing for you.
