Looks like you did awesome, @starbee!
I headed out for an easy jog/walk on Tuesday evening after having run my 5k on Sunday morning. Well, I found out that I must have pushed myself much harder than I realized in the race because my legs HURT when I got started Tuesday. I went for about a mile anyway and then just turned around and walked back home. So, I’m taking a few rest days and hope to head out again on the weekend. After my next race, I guess I’ll just plan to skip one or both of my weeknight runs and head out again on the following weekend.
April 4, 2019 at 11:49 am #106710@connie96 Thanks! definitely listen to your body and don’t push too hard. It’s easy to do without realizing. I pushed too hard last summer and gave myself shin splints that sidelined me for a month, right before basic training Sounds like you have a good plan to take some rest days. It may also help to add extra stretching or something like foam rolling when you’ve gone a longer time/distance than usual.

bexruns374 XPMonday was the first day that I ran since my marathon and you can tell that my legs were still tired. So the plan for now is still to go forward but not worry about my pace so I don’t wind up killing myself over speed when my legs/body/mind are still exhausted.
If you follow me on IG or FB, you saw my post about how James and I have been so busy since January and we’re still in the midst of it.
I also have a half marathon next weekend in Utah that I’m SUPER excited about.
Also, I have a run tonight after work that surprisingly I’m excited to do.April 6, 2019 at 5:37 pm #106846
bexruns374 XPApril 8, 2019 at 9:06 am #106870@bexruns Cute outfits! I bet your half marathon in Utah will be beautiful!
April 8, 2019 at 9:13 am #106872Completed a 5 mile run on Friday I was not feeling it AT ALL after work! No real reason other than I knew I was going to have a busy weekend ahead with drill and I felt like vegging instead and watching a Netflix movie. But after some procrastination, I finally got out there. I didn’t run with Leia this time because I thought the distance may be too much for her. So I went to the trail alone. Beautiful weather, cloudy and low 70s. Unfortunately the bugs were starting to come out in force! I got bit twice by a skeeter (didn’t realize until I got home, first week of April seems really early for them to be out!) and despite breathing in through my nose and out through my mouth, I managed to swallow a fly I cranked up the Collector’s Warehouse track and that was a huge motivator! Some of those songs have a great beat to pace to!
Time: 53:16
Distance: 5.00 miles
Pace: 10’38”Still, somehow, I crushed it! Negative splits for the last 2 miles! At some point soon me killing it is going to come to an abrupt end
April 8, 2019 at 10:17 am #106885First run since having MPFL surgery last June. First mile I felt every step in my knee. Didn’t really hurt was just more of a nuisance. After that I felt the best I’ve ever felt. Other than my slower than normal pace I’m very happy. 2.17 miles in 23:05. However I have been averaging about 11k steps a day to help prep. Cheers
April 8, 2019 at 10:31 am #106891@jloosh78 Glad it worked itself out! Are you signing up for a runDisney event?
April 8, 2019 at 1:46 pm #106910Only the virtual 5k challenge this year. Next year signing up for the Star Wars 10k and Half.
April 9, 2019 at 11:56 am #107014Another day another run! Improved from yesterdays time. 2.11 miles in 21:04. 10 minute pace. Now to get the point of doing that for 13 miles again.
April 12, 2019 at 9:36 am #107234I’ve been able to stick to my Dopey training plan so far, even though with the way things have shaken out with the weather and my schedule it gets close to a week sometimes between runs. Last night I went out for a 4 mile run with Leia bear this was our first run this week. It was pretty windy, but sunny and 57* so not hot which was great! We ran around the neighborhood to save some time. There’s not that much distance in my neighborhood, but there’s another neighborhood next to ours that we ran through also. I had to break my ratios at times in order to cross the street but it all worked out.
Time: 43:02
Distance: 4.00 miles
Pace: 10’44”I’m going to have to run again tonight to get my second run of the week in. Not ideal because it’s back to back running and that comes much later in my Dopey plan, but it’s all I’ve got this week.
April 12, 2019 at 10:02 am #107241@jloosh78 @starbee great job you guys! Keep up the awesome work!
5k Star Wars Rival Run last Friday was horrific weather conditions….delayed about 2 hours and rain the whole time. I don’t even know what our actual pace was other than it was under the 16 minute miles that they want you to be. I’ll take it considering with all the water and very slippery conditions we walked 99% of the time. And despite the weather we had just the BEST time! Completing @breesmommy5 ‘s first runDisney race with her is a memory of a lifetime! And I wouldn’t change it for all the world! Not a million perfect condition 5k’s! Her smile was brighter than a thousand suns!
April 12, 2019 at 10:34 am #107242@nascfan I would not want to do my first Disney race with anyone else ! I’m so happy and the memories will last forever because I had so much fun ! You are a great motivator !!
April 12, 2019 at 10:41 am #107246I am so sorry about the rain! I bet that was cold being soaking wet! I’ve been there! Or maybe you were thankful to keep cool? I was thinking of y’all when I saw the delays. At least it didn’t get cancelled! That would be awful! Oh yeah, you’ve just got to let pace go in a situation like that and be careful. Rain makes things slick! I can tell y’all had a great time! I saw @breesmommy5 smile! Ear to ear!
April 12, 2019 at 10:54 am #107251@starbee it was definitely cold and miserable soaking wet, not the “hey this feels good” type of rain. I felt so bad for poor Heather and Ryan standing there with no ponchos and cheering us. They were drenched too! 6% chance of rain. Six……percent. But hey, those are memories of a lifetime!
