@missingWDW good luck with the knees, hopefully it’s just temporary tightness: just keep an eye on it, like I know you will!
December 5, 2018 at 3:13 pm #96673@missingwdw let me know so I can sign up for it as well
December 5, 2018 at 3:56 pm #96677@missingwdw I hope the knee feels much better very soon!
December 5, 2018 at 4:28 pm #96679@bexruns Wahoo! I will be cheering you on during your marathon training!!! I pray you don’t hit that wall during your LA Marathon again. Just think happy thoughts and put one foot in front of the other!! You’ve got this!! And I like your method of getting endurance up and not worrying about pace! That usually leads to more enjoyable runs, at least in my experience.
@missingWDW I’m sorry your knee is bothering you! It seems like all of us on here are having some stupid knee issue! Mine are a bit tight and a touch sore after our run yesterday. Maybe it’s the colder temps? I don’t blame you for not wanting to attempt a trail run, especially for a proof of time! It’s a whole different beast to run those! I think you will do just fine if you did decide to register without a POT. But that would be fun if you and @10dedfish ran the same race next year!!December 6, 2018 at 10:13 am #96724@missingwdw I hope your knee feels better soon! And what do you mean crazy like me?! FYI, Christy and I are registered for the Cape May 10K on May 11th. You should totally run it with us if you’re up to it!

December 8, 2018 at 11:24 pm #96883@eeyorepoohfan Thanks for the tip, I didn’t think about it being the weather but you’re right, that’s the coldest temps and highest winds I’ve run in for almost a year! I think my shoes are good, but I was wearing different shoes during training and switched back to the ones I was wearing before BMT (which only have about 100 miles on them and aren’t a year old yet). Maybe I should go back to the shoes I was previously running in?
December 8, 2018 at 11:30 pm #96884@missingWDW Trying to catch up here but it’s tough when I can only stop by on the weekends for now. I really needed that quote you posted about not quitting. I said to myself that once running became easier and I could go a good distance and pace, I wouldn’t let it go and fall back to where I started but I kind of have my last month of tech school I was so burnt out with classes and so busy with class, homework and being an Airman leader that I didn’t have time to work out. Now I’ve graduated, my issue is being scared of going to the gym and running in front of people who are in way better shape than me. I’m staying in a hotel on my temporary base, 2 hours from home, so I don’t have my usual trails or my Leia bear to run with, so I’m slacking off. But I need to get back into a good routine before I lose all my progress. Gotta find that motivation!
December 8, 2018 at 11:42 pm #96886@starbee Even on days I’m not running my knees tend to be a bit sore and achy right now. But running in cold weather and winds can really lead to some new issues and pains. Just take it slow getting back to it. Your shoes are likely okay. But they can die even when not being used. They can essentially dry rot. But I wouldn’t imagine that happening in that short of time. I’m in the same boat with trying to get back to my training. Don’t even be concerned with your pace compared to others around you. Just put one foot in front of the other!
December 9, 2018 at 7:12 am #96888@starbee don’t worry about other people. You do you. I guarantee you that you are in better shape than most people, at a gym or not. I also guarantee you that 99.9% of people at a gym have zero interest in other people’s shape, speed, or anything like that. And if they do, they aren’t worth the time. In fact, some of Kathy’s and my biggest supporters have been people in great shape and speedy at the track.
You can do it! You got this! Get out there and be the awesome we know you are! -
