Still running, although I haven’t been posting much. Back to running 5 miles, pretty much every other day, unless the humidity kicks my butt then I usually cut it at 4. Been consistently running around 10 min miles and I’ve been pain free since I started back after the stress fracture. Looking forward to the fall and kissing this humidity goodbye!
I’ve been running regularly now for a year, and can’t believe how much better I feel. I was always a sprinter, and thought those cross country/distance runners were CRAAAAAY-ZEEEEE
    :P
Began only being able to run one mile. Now, I’m just getting warmed up after that first mile. I’ve lost about 20 lbs and feel so much better. Thanks to everyone here who encouraged me and kept me accountable. Running has just become another part of who I am. It’s no longer something I feel dread over doing. Dare I say it….I’m in love?

    Thanks D-COT Runner’s!
    Run strong peeps!!!!!

@10dedfish No worries on not getting many runs in recently. Abby is way more important! I hope she’s feeling better! I’m sure you will get back to it just as soon as you can!

@missingWDW I’m so glad that you are healed up from your stress fracture!!!!! And running 4-5 miles every other day is amazing!! Way to go!!! That’s something to be very proud of!! And losing 20 pounds?!?! Amazing!! I don’t seem to lose weight when I run! Maybe it’s because I like to eat!!! LOL Running truly gets addictive! I can’t wait for our cooler temps so that I can actually get out and run again! Our lows have been pushing almost 80* and that’s just too hot for my body to handle. I am so stinking proud of you!!!!!!!!!! Keep it up!! So when are you going to sign up for a RunDisney race??

OMG @eeyorepoohfan I really want to do one next year!
I have to start saving now for that trip!! Maybe I’ll sell it to hubby as a weekend getaway..,”Oh, by the way, I’m running a half while we’re there…”
    LOL

I haven’t ran in nearly two weeks now. Our temps got way out of control for my body to safely run. I don’t do well in the high heat for running. Our lows have been mid to upper 70’s, almost 80* overnight. I just physically can’t handle that. We head out on our trip on Wednesday morning and I likely won’t run in FL summer heat, even in the mornings. ;) But we will be getting tons of walking in at St. Augustine, Daytona and likely WDW! I really plan to try to get back to running sometime after our trip. Our temps should slowly be dropping down a bit by then. Our hottest months tend to be June and July. But our weather has been so hot and crazy this year, I can’t even predict what I think August will truly bring. Our next race isn’t until Star Wars in April at WDW, so I have plenty of time to get trained for that half marathon. I’ve been lazy and haven’t been doing our cross training workouts since it’s been so unbearably hot out, I just don’t have the energy. We’ve been well over 100* for quite some time now. I’m so over this!!

@missingwdw you are doing incredible! I am so, so proud of you! And as tough as it was to stay in IR with your stress fracture, look at you now. It was the right thing to do. You are in inspiration! 20 pounds, dang girl! That is just awesome! Keep up the good work, I am cheering you so loudly!
Please come in April for Star Wars! We’ll be doing the 5K and cheering Heather and Ryan on in the Half! How awesome would this be?!

    @eeyorepoohfan
I know how hard it’s been on you. The rains and humidity and then the unbearable heat. You’ll get back. And don’t you worry, after Florida I’ll crack the whip! ;)

I’ve been doing mine every day, every day. Kathy’s toes are finally pretty well healed and with Heather’s help we went and got her some new shoes and orthotic inserts. She’s just getting back to it so her endurance isn’t there yet but she will be. We did an Under the Moon 5K at one of our Metroparks last night with our daughter. So much fun! And when I looked back our pace was really good! Had Kathy been able to be trained, and in the light, we would have been even faster I’m sure! But still, I’m very satisfied!

@nascfan I have no doubt that you will crack the whip to get my butt back in gear after my Florida trip! I’m going to hold you to it!!!!! Way to go on getting your walks in too! And I’m so glad Kathy got her new shoes and inserts! That will help her so much! You guys did awesome for the little bit of training Kathy was able to get in.

I went running Friday a week ago against my better judgment. I had a sore throat and hoped I wouldn’t regret my decision…I did. Beginning Saturday and going through Sunday I had an unrelenting sinus headache and nasal congestion ensued through much of the work week :P Fortunately it poured rain most of the week and my running trail would’ve been a mud bog anyway.

Yesterday the rain finally let up and I went running again. So far I’m doing pretty good sinus-wise. Hopefully I’m over that mess because I only have a few more chances to run before the Castaway Cay 5K  Here’s my stats:

Last Friday (7/20) – 30 minute paced workout – 2.52 miles traveled – 11’53” average pace per mile

    Yesterday (7/26) – 30 minute paced workout – 2.44 miles traveled – 12’19” average pace per mile

For Castaway Cay 5K, my official 5K time to beat is 0:35:21 (11’23”) and my pace should definitely be no slower than 11’51”.

@RocketEAR99 I’m sorry you were dealing with sinus stuff! That’s rough! But glad you were able to get out and run again though! I’m so excited that you will get to run the Castaway Cay 5k!!! I am totally running it when we take our cruise!!! Do keep in mind that people say it is crazy hot and humid on that run, so adjust your pace accordingly! I know you have a goal to hit, but do be mindful of the temps!

@eeyorepoohfan from looking at the weather they’ve been getting on Castaway Cay lately, and the weather I ran in yesterday, I noticed the two were quite comparable. It was mid-80s and 100% humidity with little to no wind :P , so I figured it was a good “dress rehearsal” for the 5K weather-wise. In fact because the Castaway Cay 5K is basically flat and on paved surfaces, I should do better than I would doing 3.1 miles at home. But yeah, hydration will be cay (see what I did there?) and it will be nice to soak in the ocean shortly after finishing :)

@rocketear99 oh my gosh! I’m so sorry you were laid up for awhile there! You have been doing awesome though and will rock that Castaway Cay 5K! Do be mindful though, even though it’s flat and paved it’s so much more tropical than any of us in the continental U.S. are used to. Don’t get hung up on hitting a target that you get injured or something. You’re going to be great!
