@missingWDW Great job on your second run of the week! Yep, we all have those runs! I think I have them way more often than I used to! But you still held a great pace!
March 27, 2018 at 10:26 am #70988@RIDisneyPinGuy We absolutely love our Garmin’s!! They are super easy to use and I love the app that comes with it for your phone! It was worth the investment for us. Of course, our primary reason for getting them was for because there was no way my phone battery would survive a full marathon with playing music, tracking and pics. It is also way faster and easier to hit the stop button on the watch than it is to unlock my screen and hit stop. We ought ours through http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com and they offered the best prices. Ryan even found a coupon code for extra savings. Plus free shipping over a certain $ amount.
March 27, 2018 at 10:29 am #70989@missingwdw you did great! Way to push through and get it done! Those days do test us and I’ll say you passed with no problem. Super proud of you!
March 27, 2018 at 10:59 am #70993Well. I got my run/walk in on Saturday morning. Was able to walk for 5, run for 3, repeat for 45 minutes. Then just walked for 10. I was hoping to get another run/walk in on Sunday, but with everything going on didn’t get the time. And didn’t make it to the gym at lunch yesterday because of Court. So I’m hoping to get my “rope drop walking” in at lunch today!
I honestly was surprised that I was able to run for that much on Saturday morning since I haven’t run in about 5 months. Hoping to get a run in tonight after work, even if it’s 15 minutes. I got to start somewhere!

March 27, 2018 at 11:08 am #70996@eeyorepoohfan How does the Garmin play music? Do you need to have your phone with you? One of my friends at drill has a watch where he can leave his phone at our unit and listen to music while we’re out at the track. Which Garmin do you have? I’m going to invest in one, maybe around Black Friday if there’s good deals then and my Fitbit survives that long. I’ve had a Fitbit since 2015 and they really suck
March 27, 2018 at 11:10 am #70997I had planned to run this morning after a 10 day hiatus from being sick. I’m almost back to being able to tolerate as much water as I should be drinking in a day BUT it hasn’t stopped raining since last night. It was pouring and I’m sure the track is flooded, my parking lot at work is
March 27, 2018 at 11:19 am #71005@starbee My Garmin doesn’t play music, it just tracks my runs for me. It just saves my phone battery so I can listen to music for my long runs. My phone is used for music. Garmin for tracking. I don’t think any Garmin does music. If you get an Apple Watch, you can use that for music and tracking and I don’t think you physically have to have your phone with you. But I think you have to set that up with your phone carrier. I know some people like their FitBit’s, but I think it depends on how they use them exactly. I don’t think my Garmin is available anymore. I have the Forerunner 230. Great battery life and easy to use! You can change the screen settings to see what you want during a run. So mine shows distance, total time and average pace. Don’t be intimidated by the size, it looks big but it’s super light!!!!
March 27, 2018 at 11:22 am #71009@sarahjoe37 Great job!!! You are off to a fantastic start. The biggest suggestion is to just be consistent in your frequency of workouts to help it become a habit! Even if it’s just a few days a week! Keep on moving girl! You are rocking it!!!!
March 27, 2018 at 11:24 am #71013@starbee I’m glad you are nearly fully back to normal now!!! I’m sorry the weather didn’t cooperate for you to run. But look at it as one more rest/healing day! I’m glad your fluid intake is nearly back to normal!!
March 27, 2018 at 11:30 am #71017@eeyorepoohfan As you can see I know nothing about Garmins I misunderstood and thought they played music like an Apple Watch and my friend’s Samsung watch. How do the Garmin batteries work? You don’t have to charge them frequently like Fitbits, right? The way the Fitbit works is great, it’s easy to use, the app is clean and clear, it tracks the things I want to track. The problem is 1) sometimes it has real trouble syncing with the app which is a very common problem. It seems that happens less if I sync every day but even then sometimes I have trouble. The biggest problem I have is they don’t last. A Fitbit has yet to last me a year before it breaks and it’s a pain in the butt to contact them over the warranty. If wearing an activity tracker every day means it breaks within a year, it’s pretty pointless.
March 27, 2018 at 11:37 am #71022So after a week off of running, I went for a short 2 mile run Sunday morning while we were camping in the desert.
I fully planned on running yesterday but I woke up with a massive headache and a stuffed nose. I stayed home from work and stayed bundled on the couch almost all day.
The plan is to go after work today, or for a hike. It will be one of those for sure!
My next race is a 5K next Saturday morning. Not trying to PR quite yet, but sometime this year!March 27, 2018 at 11:38 am #71023@sarahjoe37 great job on Saturday! You are doing awesome! I hope you can get a rope drop walk in at lunch. Anything is a start and you are doing great!
March 27, 2018 at 11:42 am #71026@starbee sorry about the rain! Nope, probably not good to try to go on a flooded track. I’m so glad you’re feeling back up to par though. You’ll be ready to go when you can get out!
