@kcboston especially Starship!!!
January 8, 2017 at 1:56 pm #5971Will do! Thanks you guys!
January 9, 2017 at 9:40 am #6008@amj27 – I totally agree! I got to stay at Pop Century once, but since joining DVC, I haven’t been back. I ever want to make a trip on cash, I’ll definitely be putting it on my short list. Loved it!
January 9, 2017 at 9:50 am #6011Sorry guys, I have another unpopular opinion (I’m so full of them!) I’m just not a value person. I’ve tried it, I really, truly did, but my husband and I stayed at Pop and we hated it. I’ve been spoiled by renting points and staying at the DVC resorts, and Cammie is all about the pools with the slides. I’ll duck now
January 9, 2017 at 10:03 am #6012I think we’ve long since established in this thread that for every 10 people that likes something at Disney, there’s at least 1 that doesn’t
But yeah, as long as I have points to use, I won’t be staying anywhere but a DVC resort for sure. And @kcboston have you tried the water slide at Poly and Kidani Village? Those are my faves so far! I gained so much speed over the length of the slide at Kidani, I nearly came out the end inverted! And the slide at Poly was so dark I didn’t know where my next turn was. I called it the Space Mountain of water slides for the unexpected thrill factor
January 9, 2017 at 10:09 am #6016@RocketEar99 those are our two favorite slides! I feel like the one at Kidani is so much longer than other ones, and you are so right about being able to build up speed! My husband always tries to use the bar at the top to go as fast as he can, and he always gets absolutely tossed out at the end. I also like being able to use a hot tub, I love the two hot tubs at the Kidani pool. That one up top is a little hidden away, it can be so quiet and relaxing
The Poly one is so disorienting, but so fun! We went to that pool in the evening, so it was so much darkness!
January 10, 2017 at 9:05 am #6180ok well I’ll let another one. I truly thing the American pavilion is a joke. I mean really! Take a look at the intricate detail in Morrocco,Italy,Canada,France Etc. Then go visit The America. Is this the representation we would choose of our country?
January 10, 2017 at 9:37 am #6199@Jloosh78 – I like the American Adventure show if I’m passing through at the right time. Used to enjoy the Fife & Drum Corps before they disbanded it. Otherwise, yeah, most countries at World Showcase I visit. America, I generally just pass through unless there’s something special going on at the stage.
January 10, 2017 at 9:46 am #6205I should clarify that. The show is ok and the shows they do on the big stage thingy are good. Its the actual structures and architecture of our Pavillion that is so vanilla.
January 10, 2017 at 9:54 am #6207@Jloosh78 My husband and I always joke about that pavilion whenever we pass by, he usually makes a comment like “Welcome to ‘Murica, you know you’re here by the smell of grease” :p
January 10, 2017 at 10:01 am #6212I actually like the show and I think the architecture is a cool stand out from the rest of the countries…my issue is with 1) the food – honestly is that what we are known for? crappy burgers and hot dogs? and 2) the store – all the other countries have cool stuff and ours is so lame. i would love to buy something from it but i am disappointed every time i look
January 10, 2017 at 10:26 am #6217@jamiedawn27 – Totally agree. With all the great places to eat in Epcot, nothing there appeals to me at all. As for the store, the only thing I ever bought there is a hat specific to that pavilion in the World Showcase ( I also got similar style hats for Norway, Mexico, and Canada).
@kcboston – Too funny!January 10, 2017 at 11:07 am #6220
Gwire8 XPI went with a family of 13 (not all min) to Whispering Canyon. We had a wonderful time. You normally expect a certain level of frustration with a larger group but the server was great. It was a wonderful experience to start off our day. My kids even insisted on a selfie with the Ketchup bottle.
January 10, 2017 at 11:15 am #6222@Gwire – Whispering Canyon definitely seems to be a love it or hate it place to eat. I’ve never been there for anything but breakfast, but all 3 times (even once when we were one of 2 families there) it was great fun!
January 11, 2017 at 1:15 pm #6561That’s a good point. What is going on with America’s food offerings in the World Showcase compared to the other countries? Something like the Liberty Tree Tavern or Columbia Harbor House would improve things significantly in my opinion
