Oh @missingwdw I’m so pleased to see that! So happy it went well and you feel good! Great job! You are definitely back! Yo ho!
June 12, 2019 at 10:54 am #112279I am SO behind in this thread but I promise I’ve been running!
Monday, June 3
Time: 43:06
Distance: 4.00 miles
Pace: 10’45”Then I went to the gym too hard and made myself so sore that the run I planned on Wednesday for Global Running Day did not happen I planned on running Thursday too but we had flash floods so that got nixed. It took me 1 hour to get home from drill, I could hardly see 5 feet in front of me! But I finally got out again on Friday for an incredible run with one of my Air Force buds!
Friday, June 7
I ran on the trail by the highway, the really loud and ugly one, because I was confident my usual trail would be waterlogged after the flash floods the day before. It was 86* and sunny starting out and I was nervous I would struggle with the heat, there isn’t much shade on that trail. As I was running I was heading toward some real dark clouds. I secretly prayed for rain The sun was pretty much gone when I hit mile 4, and then at mile 5 the heavens opened!!! Let me tell you, the forecast was 20% chance of rain! I didn’t mind, it was nice to cool down I was just concerned about my phone, earbuds and Fitbit getting wet. The trail flash flooded in places and my shoes were completely filled with water. I could hardly see from all the rain coming sideways at my eyes. Strangely, the last 4 miles flew by from there! The rain stopped around mile 8 and before I knew it I’d ran 9 miles! Maybe I should have pushed through to try for 13 but my buddy was done after 9. I thought with all the water in my shoes, the hills, and having to stop at crosswalks 6 times, my pace would be 12’00” or more, but to my amazement that was my best pace ever for a distance over 6 miles! I finished only 6 minutes behind my friend who’s run numerous half marathons.Time: 1:43:28
Distance: 9.00 miles
Pace: 11’29”While the weather will be hotter than that for my half marathon, that incredible run has really boosted my confidence!
June 12, 2019 at 11:01 am #112280Great job @starbee !!! You are doing great !!
June 12, 2019 at 11:01 am #112281And then the last run I forgot to post…
Tuesday, June 11
Just another neighborhood run with Leia our weather is really starting to get hot for the summer now we’re in June, but yesterday we had much cooler weather which was so nice! 58* when I ran yesterday morning – it felt perfect! Our run was more like an obstacle course with lots of trees cut down after more storms. People left them laying all over the place which is frustrating. Then there was some construction going on in one area of the neighborhood and the road and sidewalk were dug up. I may have to rethink my route tomorrow but we made it work.Time: 44:19
Distance: 4.00 miles
Pace: 11’04”The plan is to knock out another 4 miles tomorrow morning and then that will be it. I’ll take it easy Friday, no walking, no running, and then Saturday morning is my HALF MARATHON!
June 12, 2019 at 11:12 am #112282You are doing so awesome @starbee! I’m so glad you’ve had some good run ups to your Half on Saturday, this is going to do wonders for your confidence! You’re going to be awesome! Super work, keep it up, you got this girl! So proud of you!
June 12, 2019 at 12:40 pm #112284@starbee Way to go on those runs! Your 1/2 Marathon time is going to be great!!! Proud of you, Pal!!!
June 13, 2019 at 8:06 am #112305Anyone feel like running at Camp LeJeune? Half Marathon in September, 60$ to register. I’m seriously considering this one!

@nascfan @rocketear99 Thanks a bunch! I hope so!June 13, 2019 at 10:29 am #112310@10dedfish Looks fun! It’s not in my neck of the woods, but I couldn’t even entertain the idea of traveling there because that’s drill weekend
June 13, 2019 at 10:46 am #112312Got my last run before my half in this morning. It was only 56* again which was nice! I made up a new route because I noticed driving through yesterday that all those trees are still everywhere. Well I didn’t plan it very well and my 4 mile run ended up being a 3 mile run as we arrived back in my neighborhood too soon. I was pressed for time and couldn’t come up with a new route quick enough to get in that extra mile so we just ended it there. Just as well. I spent 10 minutes chasing Trixie around the backyard once I got home and that would have made me late for work!
Time: 32:53
Distance: 3.00 miles
Pace: 10’56”Hopefully right now is about the time I should be done with my half on Saturday and the current temperature is 76*. I hope it’s the same then because that will be absolutely perfect and I should be able to rock it! I am not concerned about the distance at all, only nervous that the weather will mess up my pace.
June 13, 2019 at 2:38 pm #112319Fantasmically fantastic @starbee ! Great tune up, and don’t worry about that last mile, chasing Trixie gave you all you need! Extra cardo! All my prayers are being said for good weather for you. You’re going to do great! That reminds me, need to put a nice pleat in my cheerleader outfit for Saturday morning…..
