    @missingWDW I’ve had those days too! :P

    @breesmommy5
    Like others have said, it’s kind of personal preference on consecutive days of running. I have a friend who runs 6 days a week and he’s fine, but when I tried that I got shin splints on the 5th day. I know that if for some reason I’m not able to run every other day, I can do back to back days (2 at most) now and again and be fine. My performance is not as good as when I take a day off in between, but I can still do it and be okay. Anything more than 2 days in a row and I’m at risk of having problems. Unfortunately, I learned that through trial and error. If you’re feeling good you could always try running again today, maybe with a shorter distance, say starting with 2 miles and see how you feel? You could either stop if you think that’s enough or keep going and do more if you feel like it :) I definitely wouldn’t run more than 2 days in a row if you’re not used to consecutive days of running.

    @rocketear99 Wow :surprised: you’re crushing it! :clap: I feel like I probably shouldn’t do Dopey given how much farther along you are than I am :(

    @starbee why? Why would you say that? Stop comparing yourself to others. You obviously have a good base to start with. It’s almost a year away. It would not take someone of your caliber long to get right where you feel you need to be. I’d wager to say that at this point in time, you already are where you need to be. Start now, just one day at a time, work on it. You don’t have to really increase distances for awhile yet. Just work on it one day at a time. You CAN DO THIS! Have confidence in yourself, we all have it in you! You are far more awesome than you think!

    Yesterday we had 60* for the high so even though it was Monday and I was ready to just relax at home after work, I took advantage of the perfect running weather and got out for a run in my neighborhood. By the time I was home and changed, it had dropped a little to about 56* and the sun was setting so it was just right. I wasn’t cold but I never got hot. It’s been forever since I ran (stuff going on at home, sickness following that, overtime at work) and Leia hasn’t been out much either due to the bad weather, so I took her with :pluto: since it had been a while, I decided I would start with 2 miles and see how I felt. Oh my gosh I felt great! Despite a full day of work (I usually feel more lethargic after) and 10 mph winds, I felt like I could keep going for sure and I decided I would take it to a 5k.

    Well, right at the 2 mile mark a stray dog came out of nowhere and started yapping at Leia. It was a little dog, maybe a miniature poodle or something, but Leia didn’t like it so she kept trying to run and was pulling a lot. I tried to get her to keep going so maybe the dog wouldn’t follow. Oh no, it followed us but it did stop barking. Then Leia tried to get it to play but kept getting herself tangled up in the leash and she almost tripped me up. I decided it was time to call it, we were close to home and there was no way I was going to deal with that for a mile LOL

    I was disappointed that I didn’t make it to a 5k, BUT when I saw my time on my 2 miles I was thrilled and decided it was still a job well done :)

    Distance: 2.00
    Time: 21:09
    Pace: 10’31”

    That’s the fastest I’ve been literally in months and the last time I ran was a whole month ago :surprised: I didn’t have any awful side stitches or cramps so I ran without walking, as I should. I’m so impressed with myself! :) Now I just need to keep some consistency in my running because I have a 10k coming up soon!

    It wasn’t meant to be mean! That’s really impressive, I just feel like I may be foolish in thinking it’s a good idea considering I am not at a level of training that others are and maybe I should be.

    Stop comparing yourself to others.

    I needed that tough love. I don’t know why I do it. I try to look back on my accomplishments and take a minute to let that sink in. But then sometimes I let other people discourage me and I read about others’ accomplishments and start thinking that the naysayers right. I know I need to stop :( I’m feeling really down on myself right now because my lack of self control means I’m now under pressure to lose weight so I can make tape.

    I used to run more, but I want to get back into it. I may sign up for the “Finish at the 50”. It’s a 5K (they also a 10K, but it’s kind of boring), where you run around Gillette Stadium (where the NE Patriots play) and then run inside the stadium and finally – as the name implies – finish on the 50 yard line on the field. It’s a fun race, and it’s for a good cause.

    Then I’m all set to register for the 10K Wine and Dine RunDisney in November. I’ve got 2 of my colleagues set up to log on at the same time so between the 3 of us, I should be able to register!

    Now I just have to start getting out and getting running again. Starting from ground zero, but that’s ok!

    @starbee I’m more than happy to give you a wake-up call when you need it! LOL I want you to stop listening to the naysayers. Tune them out. If you can’t, walk away. But just stop listening to them. You know what they are? They’re jealous. They are tiny specs that mean nothing. Look at that pace! Look how good you felt! You are where you need to be. You are better than you need to be right now. You can do this! You are awesome!

    @mysticorient
    that sounds great! Starting from ground zero means you just have to go up! You can do it! There’s several of us here hoping to do the Wine & Dine 10k in 2020. Best of luck with your training and races! You got this!

    @starbee Yes! Yes! To Obi-Scott, you listen! ;) You have made an EXCELLENT start in your training! I haven’t seen a pace under 11 minutes since October I think. Just keep plugging away, expanding your distance once every 2 weeks or so, and try not to push your pace so hard. I know that sounds like silly advice, but we (yes WE) are going for 48.6 miles in 4 straight days! That’s no small feet (run pun intended). It’s wise to take our time with our gains rather than blow our energy (and maybe our muscles) out early.

    I have actually received some considerable discouragement from people recently myself. I’ll PM you about that, but I was hit with a few unhelpful comments from the naysayers BEFORE I ran that 6.5 miles, but after I ran the 6.0 miles where my pace was just OK, and nothing so great.

    Keep pressing on my friend and put in your mind that if anything stops you from going Dopey, it won’t be because you didn’t try :)

    9 miles done! It didn’t go as planned or as good as I hoped it would. I wanted to quit before mile two. But one foot in front of the other. Ryan kept encouraging me throughout the run. By mile 7 the heat was really starting to get to me (still not even as hot as it will likely be for our Dark Side race in April) and I was getting nauseated. We do a 60 second run and 30 second walk intervals. I had to fully walk for a good distance somewhere in my mile 6. At mile 7 I told Ryan I was going to just walk my last 2 miles and to go finish at his pace. My watch buzzed for my walk interval and decided to see if I could run 30 seconds and walk 60 seconds. This was the perfect solution to help to get me to the end. With how I had been feeling I really hoped to still finish under two hours! I was so proud that I sprinted my last 1/10th mile and finished under my time goal! Ryan was waiting for me at my finish with cold water! We run with electrolytes but I really start craving plain water by the end.

    @rocketear99 Thanks! :) I guess I get wrapped up in my pace because 1) when I’m not increasing my miles I feel like running at a quicker pace shows I’m improving and 2) my PT test is always at the back of my mind and that’s about speed, not distance so it makes me conscious of my pace. But, as I get deeper into distance training, I won’t care so much about my pace, so long as it’s less than 16 minutes a mile ;)

    @eeyorepoohfan Way to go! :clap: your determination and commitment is amazing! Even though we all have days and runs like that, I’m sorry because they’re no fun. I have what may be a dumb question, how do you time your intervals? Is that some fancy stuff your Garmin does or do you just set a regular timer?

    @eeyorepoohfan you did absolutely great! Way to power through! You may have wanted to quit and call it a day but you didn’t. You worked through it, and adjusted intervals to still keep a good pace and finish in under 2 hours! I’m so proud of you! Just an awesome job yesterday!
