@missingWDW Way to go girl!! You rocked that run!!!!! That’s a bit chilly for my liking, but once you get warmed up, it’s not too bad!
December 8, 2017 at 12:54 pm #58530No workout for us this morning! Last night they were forecasting our first hard freeze last night. So we knew outside running at 6am was out of the question. So we briefly debated going to the gym to do stairs. I told Ryan I wasn’t going to do it! I had no desire to go out into that cold to get to the gym. I woke up and the feels like temperature was 15* and the actual temperature was 22*! I’m so glad we didn’t even attempt the gym! My hands are already killing me in this cold, it would have made it even worse. We will get out this weekend to run since we can wait for the temperature to get to a safer temp. I think we are shooting for 6-7 miles tomorrow.
December 8, 2017 at 2:31 pm #58537@eeyorepoohfan “I shall not run today, I shall not I say! I will not go to the gym, the chances of that are less than slim! It is far to cold, temps need to warm before exercise takes hold!”
Don’t blame you one bit! I hope the temps rebound quickly so at least your hands feel better.
December 8, 2017 at 3:32 pm #58553@missingwdw That is incredible! You go Glenn Coco!
December 8, 2017 at 3:33 pm #58554@eeyorepoohfan I can’t believe it’s that cold even in the desert! Where can I go to escape winter?
December 8, 2017 at 3:42 pm #58557I got out and ran again this morning. 16* and again I didn’t want to but I did. Day 3 of Week 2 of my program, same ratios as earlier in the week 4 min walk, 6 min run, repeated twice except my phone crapped out on me and I only got 2 sets in I had 60% battery when I left (I usually charge it but I forgot) and figured that would be enough for me to run for 30 minutes. Nope, I was setting my timer for my final 6 minute run and as I was scrolling to set the minutes, my phone went black. It still had 35% battery. I tried to turn it off and turn it on again but it flashed that red battery sign at me. Ugh. I have a Fitbit but it counts up, not down, and I can’t clock watch when I run or I stop. So I called it, I was freezing anyway after a 4 minute walk, even while running I couldn’t feel my hands – and I was wearing gloves! So from now on I will remember to charge my phone. Hey I remembered to charge my head lamp at least! My phone is on the fritz, it’s 4 years old and it’s been dropped a few times. But I don’t want to upgrade before basic and take a brand new phone down there, so this one will have to make it until after I graduate.
Total Time: 24 minutes
Total Distance: 2 miles
Total Running Time: 12 minutesI will be going out again tomorrow and hopefully getting my full set in
December 8, 2017 at 4:13 pm #58561@starbee great job! This cold is just for the birds….penguins! Bummer about your phone, but you did great getting in what you could!
December 8, 2017 at 4:17 pm #58562And @starbee I doubt I’ll be on D-cot after today so best of luck with your Rudolph Run! You’ll do great!
December 8, 2017 at 4:47 pm #58564@nascfan The plan calls for one repetition so I at least got in what the plan advised. I do a third set just to ensure I keep up since I’ve never been able to follow a program like that to completion. Thanks! I haven’t decided yet if I should use set ratios or just wing it like I have been for my other 5k races this year
December 8, 2017 at 6:43 pm #58567@nascfan You summed me up perfectly!!!! I’ve double up my natural vitamin anti-inflammatories and that is helping. But it takes an hour or so for them to fully kick and and me to be able to use my hands fully. It’s, um, fun. That’s a word, right?!
December 8, 2017 at 7:03 pm #58568@starbee You are amazing for getting out there!!! That stinks about your phone though! A new phone will be a great gift to yourself after getting through basic! Good plan on waiting!! Great job on your run and the pace!!!! I am so very proud of you!!!!
December 9, 2017 at 1:05 pm #58591@eeyorepoohfan Thank you so much! I think I will get myself something small when I’m halfway through my program and then another something small when I finish all 12 weeks. I know I’m an adult but that’s still a motivator for me as well as small things like a Starbucks this morning for getting out there on a Saturday even though I wanted to hang out in my PJs all morning it’s weird, that’s the first time my phone has done that. I plugged it in when I got home and my timer was exactly where it was and counted down, the phone also said it had 35% immediately. Yes after basic I think it will be time to replace it!
December 9, 2017 at 1:19 pm #58597I got out again this morning for my 4th day of Week 2 of my 12 week Air Force plan. Same ratio 4 min walk/6 min run, three times. I took Leia with me. It was 25* and the sun was up (I got to sleep in and run at 9am instead of 6am!) so it felt so much warmer than yesterday’s 16*! I wore one less layer we went to the trail for a change of scene and that helps my mental hindrance so much! Instead of seeing how much farther I have left when using the track, I had no real concept of distance or how long I’d be running. 2 out of 3 times my buzzer went off and instead of thinking “finally!” my thought was “already?!” Leia did great although one time she did stop right in front of me while I was running because she thought a lady passing was going to pet her, silly girl I almost ran into her. When I got done Leia was adamant she wasn’t going any further so I almost had to carry her back to the car but we took a shorter route back and she followed me. As a reward we stopped at Starbucks on the way home and I got a and Leia got a puppaccino.
Total Time: 30:00
Total Distance: 2.5 miles
Total Running Time: 18 minutesI’m taking tomorrow off and I’ll start Week 3 on Monday.
December 9, 2017 at 5:45 pm #58598@starbee I have no clue where to go to escape winter! Thankfully, ours is usually pretty short lived. We are at 4,000 feet above sea level, so that’s why we do get some cold snaps and snow. We are in the high desert. I hear Florida doesn’t have much of a winter!
Hey, nothing wrong with rewarding yourself for completing training and halfway through! You deserve it! You earnedvthat Starbucks too! So strange about your phone!
December 9, 2017 at 5:47 pm #58599@starbee Way to go!!!! A change of scenery helps so much!!!!! I’m glad you could wait for it to warm up a touch! Fantastic pacing today!! And I loved your rewards for a job well done!!!!!
