Rumor Updates (February 2020): Super Strong Fictional Characters, Spaceship Earth closure, Chewie Mode, and more
Space Ranger Spin has a new queue, Spaceship Earth receives a closing date, Primeval Whirl returns again, Hollywoodland and Chewbacca.
The Tomorrowland Updates
Work continues on the Peoplemover sidebars. Over at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, the queue has been restructured. The light-up panel has been removed to make way for more queue space and most of the queue can now see Buzz Lightyear giving the mission brief. The doorway that enters to the loading area has also been moved with the queue. This means more people can fit inside the queue and out of the nasty Florida sun.
Disney also applied for a patent for technology that simulates earthquakes using plates. While this could be used for anything, the examples Disney included in he description included for “when a super strong fictional character strikes the floor nearby…” It’s believed this patent will be used for the Incredible Hulk in one of the upcoming Avengers Campus projects, however another possibility would be Wreck-It Ralph for the rumored Wreck-It Ralph attraction replacing Stitch’s Great Escape.
Grand and Miraculous Changes to Spaceship Earth
A date has finally been set for the closure! The last day to experience the current version is May 26. Disney also shared a new piece of concept art highlighting a new rendition of the Egypt scene showing off the power of light.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disneyland
It’s rumored a temporary freeze will be put in place for Disneyland’s large-scale projects, including Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. What this means is that construction and the opening will be delayed. If you recall, this happened to the Disney’s Hollywood Studios version as well, originally slated for a 2018 opening and only opening just now in March 2020.
It’s the End of Dinoland as We Know It
Primeval Whirl unexpectedly opened over President’s Day weekend in response to the heavy crowds. This opening was not scheduled, even remaining listed as “Closed” on My Disney Experience while still listing a wait time.
The Black Box
In an interview with the Orange County Register, Vice President of Disney California Adventure, Patrick Finnigen, discussed the history of the park and a bit about its future too. Finnegan brought up that once Avengers Campus opens, Hollywoodland would lose the constant Marvel presence throughout and that Disney was working on new ideas to improve the current land. While new additions have been made, including a clone of Mickey’s Philharmagic and FastPass service to Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue, it’s rumored that the black box attraction would make its debut here. The black box was rumored to be used to promote upcoming movie releases, making it a perfect fit for Hollywoodland, land of the movies. All other details are unknown.
RUMOR: Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure to be Replaced?
Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure closed on February 16, 2020 with only two days notice. The original recruiting center has been torn apart as the experience is being transformed into the DuckTales World Showcase Adventure.
The Rumor of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: Hondo’s New Shipments
While there is no new mission on Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, a new mode is now available: Chewie mode. If the Pilots and Engineers perform the correct sequences before the takeoff and the seatbelt check, Hondo’s commands will be turned off and the mission will be guided by Chewbacca. If it’s your first time riding Smuggler’s Run, this mode may not be for you as you will not have any clue what to do unless you can understand Wookie.

I am so sure I would never be able to be savvy enough to do all that has to be done to get the Falcon into Chewie mode, but i would to ride it that way one day!!!!

We should get a whole bunch of us to do the Falcon and try to get it. That way everyone would be on board with it and you could just take a backseat as gunner and not have to worry about it
