I don’t get very excited over the actual characters. We love the shows and attractions. But, I’ve never waited in line in my life to meet a character. And, my kids aren’t into it either. We don’t dislike them…they just don’t really do much for us.
Yeah, we’re not much into character either, unless they have a nearly non-existent line, then we don’t pass up the photo op (especially with Chip and Dale!)
February 22, 2017 at 12:49 pm #14753The only time I will wait for a character is if 1)its a super rare one, like when they did limited time magic or 2)the line is SUPER short. Even when my kids were little, I learned my lesson real quick that waiting a super long time for a character usually resulted in my daughter freaking out almost immediately once we got close to them. So I started telling her little white lies such as “they’re on their lunch break” or “they need to go take a nap” when we would pass them.
February 25, 2017 at 7:38 am #15195I have one that is truly unpopular: we liked the Lumberjack show. It was fun to watch, and I think that they just needed a little more time to really develop and work out some of the kinks. They were put in such a no win situation since they replaced Off Kilter, but we enjoyed it (doesn’t hurt that they were easy on the eyes )
February 25, 2017 at 8:09 am #15199Based on what I’ve read when they announced and started construction, one of my unpopular opinions is that I’ve always been excited about Pandora, from the start and not just since seeing what they are actually doing. I wasn’t a fan of Avatar either, only saw it once. But in my opinion this world has always fit the theme and message of Animal Kingdom. Sure it’s make believe, but there is a dragon on the entrance to AK. So the argument that any expansion should be based on a real place didn’t hold much weight with me. So Avatar isn’t a Disney movie or franchise. That’s okay with me, Kilimanjaro Safaris isn’t based on anything Disney either. It’s based on a two week African safari trek. The message of Avatar and Pandora is one of conservation and living in harmony with the world and land, which dovetails perfectly into AK in my opinion. That and the fact that Joe Rohde was taking lead on it made me quite excited to see what they were going to do. Based on tidbits and snippets of previews, I am even more excited to see this new land come to fruition!
February 25, 2017 at 8:15 am #15200@nascfan I agree with you! I haven’t seen the movie, but Disney and James Cameron are two of the biggest perfectionists in their industries. The opportunity to be transported to another planet is amazing! I hope the rides are good, but I’m looking forward to the general atmosphere of the new land

That’s a really cute picture! They’re gone now right? They had a pretty short run?

Yeah, their run ended in October, 2015. We saw them in April, 2015 and Cammie loved it! I think they were only there for a year. Thanks, Cammie insisted on waiting after the show so she could meet them. Not that I can blame her
February 25, 2017 at 10:15 am #15213@nascfan @kboston Let’s see, my thoughts on Avatar without hijacking this thread… I was initially indifferent. Animal Kingdom in my opinion was seriously lacking rides until Expedition Everest was born. We wouldn’t always visit AK each trip before then. So I was glad to hear of more development happening over there. The franchise itself I could take or leave, I saw the movie once, it wasn’t bad but it didn’t blow me away. I would have liked to see a “real” themed area built, for example a lot of people suggested Australia. The Asia area of AK is so incredibly immersive I would have loved to see another culture reflected like that in a new area. However, I don’t have a problem with Pandora being fictional, I just think a real setting would have been a neat way to explore another country/culture kinda like WS. My only criticism of Pandora was how long it was taking to build. It almost felt like it was never going to be finished. I hope that the length of development has allowed them time to work out the kinks. With Joe Rohde at the helm, I know this will be fantastic! They have a lot to work with, they have the creativity, skills and resources to make this awesome and I think it will be an incredible addition to the park. I also hope they learned from their mistakes with Everest and we don’t have any of those issues again.

I guess I wasn’t very impressed after being able to see lumberjack shows in Alaska and Vancouver. But I do concur doctor on the lose lose situation they were placed in.That’s a really cute picture! They’re gone now right? They had a pretty short run?

February 25, 2017 at 1:02 pm #15228why did my comment not show up?
February 25, 2017 at 1:03 pm #15229February 25, 2017 at 1:49 pm #15238@jloosh78 your comment got sandwiched in there I get that if you’ve seen a more authentic version of the same show then it would be disappointing, but I think that can go for just about anything there. They were limited in space and the by the venue, but I really didn’t understand how people hated it so much. I think they just hated that it wasn’t Off Kilter and would have hated anything that went in next
February 26, 2017 at 9:52 am #15320Oh I didn’t hate it by any means. Just fell short of Disney expectations. It would be like replacing Cinderella’s Castle one day with a HighRise apartment!

March 6, 2017 at 10:51 am #16321okay here goes one…Off Kilter…i seriously do not like it…go ahead and start throwing things at me!!
March 6, 2017 at 10:58 am #16324Ugh, with the pictures I just saw of our ToT becoming more and more for GotG, I’m disliking it more. The paint job looks like Tomorrowland from the 90s. Gold tones on everything.
