Thanksgiving 2017

@jamiedawn27 The only good thing about not being gone was the awesome Black Friday deals I got – almost all online, I don’t do crowds I would be happy to stay home and it just be me, my husband and my dogs for Thanksgiving. But if I’m in town, I don’t get that option. MIL dictates what happens. She called me while I was at work, 3 weeks before Thanksgiving needing to know how many people were coming over to her house. I said I planned to stay home and I’d invited my BFF and her hubby for Thanksgiving and I was waiting to hear back from them. She said “Okay, well just let me know how many are coming over. You’re bringing dessert, I need 2 pumpkin pies and RediWhip”. Um, what part of that implied I was coming to your house? So that’s how it goes every year. Last year my parents came into town and we still had to go to MIL’s. Hubby makes us go along with it because she’s a widow. I’m sorry about that but why does that mean I can’t ever have Thanksgiving with my family? She has a brother and sister in town who could have her over, and a son who could make an effort but never does, so it falls on us all the time. If ever I travel to see my family in France or CA, I have to go alone so hubby can stay with his mom and make sure she’s not home alone on the holiday. So then I get my family but not my husband. Perpetual no win situation.

I feel for you ladies and everyone else who hates the holiday, or holidays. I can’t imagine how horrible that is. They are something I’ve always looked forward to and enjoy so much about them. My wish is for you to find happiness at some point in them, however that happens, whether it be getting away with just your immediate family, or even alone, or whatever it takes.

This year we had Thanksgiving at my moms. My girls were in town and the rest of my entire family came. This is the first time I’ve seen some of them since my dad passed away almost 3 years ago and 2 of my cousins have had a couple kids since then so I got to meet them.
As always, the visit with my kids was way too short

Oh and give me all the stuffing and I’m a happy girl.
