I’m excited about getting back this Monday, my back has been so stiff and hurting all week and it kept me down and unable to move all week I need to get back !!
I’m sorry to hear that when it gets super cold like this I suffer from a lot of stiffness in my lower back and legs. Sometimes I can’t stand up straight and I look and feel like a grandma going to the chiropractor helped me a lot but it still really sucks! I hope you can get back into it and the pain and stiffness subsides
Thanks ! Me too ! My kids are making fun of me because of me walking around hunched over I wondered if it’s the cold making it do that or if it’s health issues ugh
January 27, 2019 at 12:21 pm #101246@breesmomy5 It could be either I guess, but for me it’s something that only affects me when it’s cold. It started last winter and it’s happening again this winter
January 27, 2019 at 12:31 pm #101247I’ve been skipping my runs for far too long now but I got out there this morning and to my surprise it warmed up a lot faster than usual and I got too hot! It was 22* when I left the house and it was 38* by the time I was done running which is not typical.
I thought it was going to stay pretty cold so I ran alone. If it’s below 30* I don’t take Leia because she has short hair and she’s pretty skinny so I think it would be too cold. I could layer her up but I think that would be too uncomfortable for her. I ran 2 miles and it went pretty good aside from me getting too hot about halfway through. I wouldn’t have worn my bank robber hood had I known it was going to warm up that quickly, but my phone said it would only be 30* by the time I got done so I thought I’d need it. I took 3 walk breaks to avoid two slick spots (always bridges) and the third break was to fix a wardrobe malfunction. My left ear bud fell out under my bank robber hood and I couldn’t fix it while running and wearing gloves
Distance: 2.00
Time: 23:34
Pace: 11’46”I like to keep my pace under 12’00”, ideally under 11’00”, so not my best today but not a disaster either. I’m now back home permanently so hopefully I can get into a better running routine starting now
January 27, 2019 at 3:07 pm #101275@starbee it historically floats. In the past it’s been anywhere from October to Veterans Day area to the first weekend in November. We’ll keep an eye on it.
You did great today! Consider that your “winter time”. You’ve got to be cautious to avoid slips and falls. So that is excellent in this weather!
@breesmommy5 I hope your back feels better to get back to it soon! I feel so bad for you!January 27, 2019 at 6:16 pm #101293@nascfan Hmm, I will have to keep checking and see if that will work with my schedule. Thank you! Yes it’s not terrible and I’ll get back to a better time. I need it to warm up just a little so there’s no ice
January 27, 2019 at 8:44 pm #101307@nascfan and @starbee Wine & Dine 2020 date should be released in the next few months. The half marathon for W&D actually runs about $205, includes entry to an after hours party at Epcot the night of the half marathon. They have food booths open, characters out, etc. The half marathon includes a $15 Disney Promo card, which I believe is like a gift card. The intention is for you to use it to buy food at the booths. Shorter distance races don’t include entry to the party or the promo card but spectators and shorter distance racers can purchase party tickets. I think it’s $15. I takes place from 10pm-1am. Not sure how they expect half marathoners to be awake after running! Even with a nap I don’t think I would be awake that late!
January 27, 2019 at 9:18 pm #101310That sounds great, thanks @eeyorepoohfan! Yeah, sounds like it could be fun at the party but no way I’d be awake!
January 27, 2019 at 10:01 pm #101340@nascfan Right?! The W&D half used to be a night race and started at 10pm. When you finished the race, you could immediately go to the after party! It went until like 3am! But even then I couldn’t see doing that!!
January 27, 2019 at 10:11 pm #101341Oh my gosh, nope! You’d lose a park day before and after!
January 28, 2019 at 8:48 am #101351Christy and I hammered out a new distance run yesterday afternoon! We went to a local State Natural Resource Center and tried to run a trail that was supposed to be 5.5 miles long (the distance we were going for). Not only was that trail poorly marked but they had re-routed it without updating the map We were, with some wrong turns here and there, able to run the old route, but it was closer to 5.0 miles than 5.5 We continue to have quite a bit of precipitation around here so the trail was muddy in places and we had to stop to ford some streams and go off-trail around really muddy spots. Christy slipped and fell in some toward the end (she’s not injured) It was quite hilly too.
All that said, I’m SO glad I invested in a GPS wrist watch to track our true distance and be able to get a full stats breakdown. Our basic stats were:
Distance: 5.50 miles
Time: 1:14:48
Pace: 13’36″/mileOur full stats are at this link: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/3335912209
January 28, 2019 at 9:13 am #101358I ran to the bathroom! Thanks for all the inspiration!!!
January 28, 2019 at 9:16 am #101360Wow, great job @rocketear99 and Christy! Through some rough spots and “off-roading” you guys did great! I’m glad Christy is ok after her fall!
January 28, 2019 at 12:23 pm #101392I ran to the bathroom! Thanks for all the inspiration!!!
@rocketear99 I’ve had those incidents before too and OOF. Thank goodness for GPS on my phone or I for sure would have been lost A LOT longer. I could at least hear the road nearby so I figured I could at least just go toward that and then follow it back to the parking lotHey all!
So I ran both Sat and Sunday, Sunday was a bit of a surprise because we had James’ moto awards banquet the night before and were up till about 2 drinking. Woke up at 7 and aside from a teeny headache I felt ok! So up and out I went!I might go for a quick 1 miler tonight or I may take an actual rest day. Who knows
January 28, 2019 at 12:54 pm #101394Great job @bexruns! Especially after Saturday night! You rock!
January 28, 2019 at 2:09 pm #101406@Nascfan Thanks Pal
