DA07DDA21 XPDoes anyone collect Walt Disney World pins? I’ve just started last year and already ‘hooked!’
January 19, 2017 at 9:34 am #8159I used to. I haven’t bought any in a very long time. I started collecting Vinylmation in 2011 because I could display them better, and then last year I started collecting Tsum Tsum too I’m running out of space and money! :p
January 19, 2017 at 9:37 am #8163me too…no pins but mugs (yes my cupboards are full) and tsum tsums (are they for my kids or really for me?) and now my daughter is starting vinylmation. yikes!!!

RIDisneyPinGuy182 XPI do/did… Haven’t had the time to really invest into trading the past couple years
January 20, 2017 at 10:50 am #8569My best suggest for Pin Collectors. Regional pins are the best to collect, and always get multiples. A regional pin is one that is only available at a certain place. For example, pins that are only available at Disneyland.
The reason you buy multiples is because when you go to other parks, people assess a higher value for a pin they are not likely to get because it is in another country or across the country.
When ever we take a WDW trip, we drive to Downtown Disney in CA and get as many DLR pins as possible. When we get to WDW, the true collectors go out of their way to trade with us, and they bring their good stuff. I have learned most serious collectors have to sets of pins. The trading set, and the final set. Most will bring the final set to get pins they otherwise do not have access too.,
January 20, 2017 at 10:53 am #8573I don’t actively collect the pins, but when I get them I keep them. As a result most of my pins are pretty rare and exclusive. Like the Keys to the Kingdom Tour pin, the Magic Behind our Steam Trains Tour pin (available only at WDW since DL doesn’t have such a tour) and the Sneak Peak to Expedition Everest before it opened to everyone else.

That’s part of why I quit. I got my first pin with a lanyard as a gift from my dad when I was 10. I wanted more! Then I saw people trading and I wanted to trade, so I did. Then I realized (still a kid at this time) that I had traded for the fun of it and didn’t actually like anything I had. All the pins I did like were gone. So I quit trading and now I only have a select few pins that I didn’t trade that I even like. If I were to buy any more I wouldn’t trade them
January 20, 2017 at 4:27 pm #8683That is why when I buy pins, I buy two.
January 20, 2017 at 10:26 pm #8732I do collect pin, I get A Piece of Walt Disney World History in case an attraction goes away. Any of the pins contains a square sequin piece
of any memorabilia on the pin.January 21, 2017 at 2:01 pm #8825
bpellinen292 XPI have quite a few pins, but I don’t trade them. My mom used to get a bunch for me from the Disney Movie Club, so I have quite a few you can’t find in the parks. I haven’t decided how I want to display them yet. Right now they are all packed away.

That’s what I found hard about pins. Mine are in a box somewhere :|

DA07DDA21 XPi got a few PINS for my Christmas however I got a Star Wars one that i’m not entirely keen on, how do you trade them? Do you just go up to a cast member and ask if you want to trade?

Yep, that’s exactly how it works. CM’s will have a lanyard or pouch with pins on them and you just ask to see them and trade for something you want.

DA07DDA21 XPDo they have to trade with you even though they might not want your PIN?
January 24, 2017 at 8:49 am #9203Yes. If they have a pin on their lanyard they don’t refuse any trade for it. And they’re very nice about it too, they will never let on if they don’t particularly want your pin. Anyway, there is a spot “downstairs” where they can turn in pins and get other ones for trading. They’re not out anything for trading for something they may not particularly want. What they display is fair game. Also the resorts have boards and some have books that you can look through usually. Some are at the gift shop registers and some are in the lobby.
