Since you’ve been going to WDW, what one thing do you think has impressed you the most? What was that big WOW moment for you? I know when I was at Disneyland in the 70’s my parents were just dumbstruck when Lincoln stood up and started talking. lol I remember them telling all of our family back home how blown away they were over that because technology like that just didn’t exist yet. lol We also couldn’t get over the REAL ghosts in the Haunted Mansion and telling someone back in the day that they were like REAL ghosts was some exciting stuff. lol Even now I tell my friends who have never seen it to imagine being a kid back when all of this tech didn’t exist, and kids were actually still impressed by special effects and not desensitised. (sad but so very true…nothing impresses kids these days, we’ve seen it all I think) As an adult I think my wow moment came when they lit up Cinderella castle for Christmas with the new sparkly lights. I’m sooo glad that my mom was alive to see that. She was the sparkly queen and if it didn’t sparkle like diamonds, she didn’t want it. lol

My biggest wow moment was either Happily Ever After or Rivers of Light. I was completely in love and tearing up at how impressive and beautiful it was.

I haven’t seen either one yet but I’m going in November and I can’t wait!!! I love when I have something new to look forward to, and this trip for the first time in a long time, there are tons of things that are new for me. Between Pandora, Rivers of Light, and Happily Ever After, I’m going to be in heaven!

Seeing the castle lit up for Christmas! It was so beautiful in person, also when I saw Wishes in person, I cried ! I think also it’s the way Disney makes me feel, as soon as I walk in Magic Kingdom I get emotional

Probably the scenes on Tower of Terror and the updated hitchhiking ghosts in the Haunted Mansion. To this day I don’t know how they do those effects and I don’t want to know!

My moment was, we’ll say Pirates of the Caribbean as an adult. And I mention that one just because it was the first and most memorable instance. I had been there a couple times as a kid, but as an adult I appreciated the attention to detail and how immersed I felt in my surroundings with all the sights, sounds, and smells!

I read a book called “Mousetales: A Behind the Scenes look at Disneyland”, and it was about all of those small details that we just don’t realize are there and all of the subliminal things Disney does to sell things and give you that sense of security. It was absolutely fascinating! It’s about Disneyland but that and the MK are so similar that it can easily be applied to both. It had the best stories from former cast members telling all sorts of funny or shocking stories of things they witnessed while working at DLR. Well worth checking out if you like that stuff! :)

I loved that book so much! Although, I read the sequel and not the original… :|

I was most impressed during my first visit to The Hall of Presidents…. many moons ago.

So many things, but something that really stands out in my mind:
The magic mirror portal in Enchanted Tales with Belle. Jaw dropped the first time I saw it! Still does really. I have no idea how they do it, nor do I want to know. Disney magic through and through.

The first time I rode Soarin’ was really impressive. By that time I was older and more jaded about parks and rides so I wasn’t expecting to be blown away. It was so much fun I couldn’t stop smiling.

I remember I was in 3rd grade when my family took our first trip to Disney World, and at that age, the monorail was THE COOLEST THING EVER! You’re telling me there’s a train, in the sky, that takes us to the Magic Kingdom? Whoa!

On our most recent trip, we were lucky enough to attend the Pandora Passholder Preview. I went into it spoiler free, and Flight of Passage was more than I ever thought it could be. I haven’t even seen the movie, and it was still breathtaking. The way they seamlessly integrated the landscape, the flying simulation, the smells, and the sounds, it was unreal. And the Shaman at the end of the Na’vi River Journey is so beyond any animatronics I’ve ever seen, the fluidity of movement was stunning.

I think for me it was the attentio to detail with the landscaping and gardens. It was all so perfect. How in one place you could feel like you were in Hawaii and the next the wild west. It was all so pretty and natural looking.

For me it’s the isolation. They do a really good job of separating you from the real world.

The wow for me was how clean it is. I am a New Yorker by birth (though a bit upstate) but I was used to those types of amusement parks that put the idea of Disneyland into Walt’s head. They were loud, a bit dirty and not themed. I remember being so jazzed that my parents went on all the rides with me and that our first trip to Disneyland was such a together experience. Then as I got older and because interested in customer service I became obsessed with how Disney does it. I am never tired of watching what they do and how well the do it (most of the time). :ears:
