RIDisneyPinGuy182 XP@chelle I would agree with Steve, but my wife would probably agree with you if we went there. She’s from New Jersey so she’s had the best Italian food you can find in this country and Italian food anywhere else does not impress her.
She apparently hasn’t been to Rhode Island

RIDisneyPinGuy182 XPLet me just say that for Italian food in central Florida, Mama Melrose is not bad.
This! And it is better than Olive Garden, which for some unknown reason people love…
Is it like home? No. But does the trick for WDW, and better than Tony’s by leaps IMO
April 29, 2017 at 12:02 pm #24707I would second Yak & Yeti in AK. I thought the food was outstanding!
so glad to hear this as we have ressies for this and we have never been before. same goes for MMs…my kids like Olive Garden so I guess that’ll turn out good too?

My kiddos were happy with it. Let’s just call it a ‘safe choice’ restaurant

Disneydana12 XPI was reading along about the New Jersey Italian and Olive garden etc…I find this so funny because living here in Myrtle Beach, most of my friends are transplants from NY/Philly/NJ and every last one of them has had the same argument that The Olive Garden isn’t real Italian and that they cook their sauce all day long blah blah blah….I can honestly tell you that each and every time I have anticipated this homemade “sauce” that they insist I try, I have to pretend that it tastes good :p It always tastes exactly like someone opened a can of crushed tomatoes, salted it and put it over noodles. I also found the same issue with NY hot dogs and pizza. I tried 3 different hot dog venders and the result was….they were just hot dogs. Same with the pizza, I tried it in Manhattan and Brooklyn….I was waiting for the angels to sing and guess what…..just pizza. :| Man I was disappointed because I’m one of these people that watches those travel food shows and writes down places to try when I’m in the area and 9 times out of 10 it never lives up to the hype. :'( Anyone else ever do this? They make it look and sound so good on tv and then you try it and realize, “well, they guy was paid to make it sound like it was going to be the best thing you ever ate….he’s not going to say it was just okay.” lol So the moral to my story is, The Olive Garden is far better than any home made Italian cooking I’ve ever had, and Pizza Hut rocks. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll just be sliding under my bed so you can’t find me.

StupidJudy71 XPSo many TS options are coming up on this thread, very varied opinions on some, when you get back from your trip you will have to tell us where you ended up going and how each place worked out!

DA07DDA21 XPI shall keep you informed. Think we’ll try Tokyo Dining as we quite like sushi and probably use Disney Springs quite a bit I we stay at Saratoga Springs but also eat outside WDW and go to parks later in the day as it will be slightly cooler and hopefully quieter.
May 3, 2017 at 7:39 am #25322@DA07DDA when are you going? we are going in June and i am bracing myself and the fam for it to be hot AND packed. i made lots of dining reservations just to make sure we had stuff to do outside of our fast passes. Here’s our list: Mama Melrose (fantasmic package), Planet Hollywood (cuz we love DTD…errr…Disney springs), Yak & Yeti, Sci-Fi Drive In, Garden Grill for breakfast and Teppan Edo (my daughter wants hibachi for her birthday)
