Did anyone else read this article yesterday about the Pirates of Caribbean reopening with the new auction scene?

I was really worried about it, thinking that they should NOT change it because its such a classic scene …”We wants the Red Head!!!” and all…. however, I will say that I watched the revamped scene on YouTube yesterday, and it was AWESOME. The Disney Imagineers really outdid themselves. The new animatronic is so fluid and amazing, AND she now has a speaking part! It just seems so odd and a little out of place now. I’m not opposed to her speaking, she just seemed much louder than the other animatronics in the video I saw. She is extremely fluid, but stands out against the much older animatronics now. Hopefully they update some other parts of the scene to balance it out more! I was also hoping they kept her look more similar to the old character, but she definitely looks like a whole new person. I’ll get a better feel for it when I see it this weekend in person!

Oh wow! The side by side comparison really shows the differences. I think the new one looks terrific!

I watched a video of this last night. It made me sad. I know that Disney can update and change things, but I don’t care for this at all.

They couldn’t even leave the “Do I hear six?” part. My family and I quote that all the time and now they had to change that “Do I hear ten? ” A ten for a hen or something like that! Stupid!

Haven’t watched the video, not sure if I’ll do that ahead of time or wait until my next trip to see it in person first. But looking at the side by side comparison pictures (new technology aside) I don’t like that she’s gone from being really pretty to looking like a tomboy

I spoiled it for myself, and quite honestly, I was super disappointed! I do think the Redhead looks really badass, but the rest of the scene is so uck! The new voices are very unattractive, especially the Auctioneer’s, and the dialogue isn’t even clever or funny. And it promotes alcoholism like it was praised! Yes, there are drunk pirates further in the ride, but it’s not praised then like it is in the new scene.

Overall I’m quite unhappy with these changes, I always have been and seeing it finished does not help at all. As far as aesthetics, I will admit this is not the worst of the changes (I find the grotto at WDW to be a little off, as it stands right now.) I was also disappointed that they even changed her appearance so much, but at the same time I’m glad they made her at least appear more like a pirate.

More censorship by liberal America! Pretty soon every bit of American history that people have a problem with will be erased from the world! Sad that even Disney now has sunk to this practice!

Does this page have to go political?
We get so much of people being awful to each other because of politics everywhere else. Can’t we keep politics away from this place? If not, I’ll go somewhere else….

Hey guys, no need to make it political at all. We all do a very good job at leaving politics off D-cot and I’m sure we can keep it that way with this subject. Some of us will like the change and some won’t, but I’m sure we all know that Disney and it’s parks are ever changing. Let’s keep it non-political, I’m sure we can all express our opinions and be respectful of all, differing or not.

Meh. Not too impressed. Granted, I’ve not seen it in person but what I saw on youtube didn’t impress me. Wish they’d have left it alone.
