I have done the 1/2 marathon they have in January and am hoping to do the 1/2 marathon Star Wars next April!! @acamm, I know the price is a little high (I choked a little), but I felt it was worth every penny!! :ears:

That’s really good to know that you feel like you get your monies worth ! I need to revisit this idea and check it out again. :ears:

I think what I need to do is whenever we get around to really planning a WDW trip is just plan it around a race weekend and go all out.

That’s what we do! Our trip to WDW next month will be our longer 8 day trip and was specifically set to run the Star Wars Half Marathon! It’s how so many of our trips have been planned. Guaranteed vacation to Disney!

Disney puts on some pretty amazing races. They’re pricey but IMO worth it.

I have actually looked at the prices about 2 years ago, and I was shocked at the high registration fees! :surprised:

I do not run full marathons, or even half. I generally run in 5K or 10K races. I would like to do the ‘baby races’ (my friends make fun of me and my short races) at Disney!!

Yes, the prices are high, but seriously worth it! It’s such a well organized event. The Expo is usually huge with lots of vendors. And the RunDisney merchandise section is amazing! You get a great tech top for each race you are partipating in. The medals are huge, heavy and awesome!!! The on course support is amazing! Water stations are around every 1.5 miles. There are several medical stations with BioFreeze, salt packs, Vasolene, etc. Nurses around the course as well. Lots of character stops. Snack boxes, bananas, water and Poweraid at the finish. You get to run through the parks before they open. And there’s something magical about running through a park as the sun rises!! I say they are worth it, hands down! I’ve spent A LOT of money on Disney races and don’t regret a penny of it!

The other gals who’ve participated in RunDisney events would know better than me, but I think the pace for some of the races is pretty lenient, like maybe 18 minutes or so per mile. If you walked “with a purpose” you could probably take part in a 5k or something without getting swept, but I’ll let some of the other advise you better on that  I know one of my friends completed a 5k at Disneyland with no prior training and didn’t get swept. She would run a little but she did a run/walk combo. And had her Duffy bear on her back the whole time :ears: I think she told me the pace was something like 20 minutes/mile

Yes, I run/walk all of my races. Disney states you must maintain a 16 minute/mile pace or you risk getting swept. However, this pace click starts once the last person crosses the start line (usually the balloon ladies). So if you start far enough ahead of them then you really can go at a slower pace and be okay. If you do a 5k, they don’t have a pace chip in your bib. So it really is just making sure you stay ahead of the balloon ladies. But it really is easy enough to run a bit and then walk and make that 16 min/mile. The 10k and Half will be chipped timed. There are training guides for 10k’s and half marathons on the RunDisney page. He has you slowly increase your mileage. The merchandise to purchase can go quickly, depending on the race weekend. I’ve heard the Princess Weekend gets a bit insane. But the other race weekends aren’t too bad in the Expo. The full marathon weekend will get intense too, just due to the number of people.
