bexruns374 XPMy mom is doing her first runDisney race (the Neverland 5K in May) and was worried about the balloon ladies, but like @eeyorepoohfan said, the 5k isn’t a huge deal. It’s more the 10k/half/full that they’ll sweep you.
March 22, 2017 at 9:05 am #18780The part about your friend running with a Duffy bear on her back made me smile.
It was really cute! She was dressed as Han Solo and her Duffy was dressed as Boba Fett

At the Star Wars races we will always see a few people dressed as Spaceballs characters (Barf and Dark Helmet) and at least one Star Trek costume! The best one was a very hairy man dressed as slave Princess :leia: ! We called him Chewbacca Leia :chewie: :leia: !!! I keep mine pretty simple since I have to run a long distance in it. My costume for Star Wars Dark Side is an :r2d2: dress! Simple and easy to run in. I used it for my 10k back in 2015.

bexruns374 XPI saw a pic of a guy at Light Side Star Wars dressed as George Lucas
I love when people do mashups though. Like the Tinkerbell Stormtroopers or Darth Vader Belle or something like that. So creative.

RIDisneyPinGuy182 XPMy rD resume includes the 2014 WDW 10k & 1/2 marathon and the 2016 Dopey Challenge.
I hope after completing nursing school (and I can train like a normal crazy runner) to do a coast-to-coast, specifically the Kessel Challenge… Both rD Star Wars half marathons in the same year. :chewie:

Always happy to talk rD
My biggest obstacle between me and a Kessel is my wife (and finances)… I could get her onboard for going to one (as a family trip), but the weekend excursion for the second will be the sticking point.
April 1, 2017 at 10:58 am #20581That is the challenging part of doing the Kessel for sure! They are 3 months apart on opposite coasts. And I’m sure for you, the flights to DL will be higher than WDW with the distance. As you saw in my trip report, the parks at DL over the Star Wars Light Side race weekend were crazy heavy on Saturday and Sunday. But they lightened up tremendously by Monday! So something to consider to get the most out of your park time. If you can shift and do park days after the race, it will help you see and do more in the parks!
