Today we got to Epcot at 8:45 before the rope dropped in front of Spaceship Earth. Not as many people here on a Wednesday as at the other parks we went to thus far, so that was great!
Here’s how our day has worked out so far:
Went to Soarin’ without a FP right after rope drop. Waited 15 minutes to ride even though it seemed like lots of people were in front of us! Got front and center seats! Best in the house! I do love this new version of Soarin’! Especially how they transition from one place to the next!
Walked on Living with the Land after that
Strolled over to the Seas Got right on the ride.
Saw Turtle Talk with Crush. It was a full house for the show, but Crush was in rare form! Best show from him I’ve seen in a few years!
Moseyed around the Seas pavilion for a bit.
Walked to Imagination pavilion. :im:
Wait was too long at Journey with Figment, just 30 minutes, but we had a reservation coming up, so we explored the DVC lounge! Great place to get away and relax with some “free” soda and snacks.
Walked back to and had lunch at Garden Grill Though I was skeptical about the new menu, it was still very good! My favorite parts were the vegetables, salad, macaroni and cheese, and the turkey. I miss the fish and the roast beef/sliced prime rib though. I could have made my meal out of that salad and I’m not a salad person! Also the character interactions were great! We got to see them all (Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale) at least twice and “chat” with them!
After lunch we ventured out of the park, but on the way used our FP+ for Spaceship Earth
Currently on a 3-hour break. Going back to see the Mexico side of the World Showcase plus IllumiNations later onAugust 16, 2017 at 2:15 pm #44640Nice morning! I can’t wait to see the new Soarin’! So glad to hear the good report on Garden Grill too.
August 16, 2017 at 2:17 pm #44642Nice day!
30 minutes does seem long for Figment though!
I’m glad you enjoyed the Garden Grill! I had only eaten there for my first time a few months ago and was totally unaware it was a new menu! It is very good! :mickey:
Do you have any plans to do any of the rides or shows besides Illuminations?
August 16, 2017 at 2:44 pm #44645I love it when I get front and center on Soarin’! What a great day!
August 16, 2017 at 4:45 pm #44649Glad you enjoyed Garden Grill! We ate there for the first time during our last trip and really loved the food, characters, and setting. I think Crush is a MUST SEE for every trip! He is so stinking funny! Glad you are having a good day thus far! Enjoy WS tonight!

10dedfish177 XPWoohoo!
I’ve never tried Garden Grill, guess I need to check it out one day.
August 17, 2017 at 7:06 am #44674Wow a 30 min wait for Imagination?? YIKES! Since when is that a ‘popular’ ride?
You’ve hit up almost all of my favs at Epcot: Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, Soarin….. but no Test Track???
I hope that your afternoon break… and your evening with the 3 Caballeros went fabulous!!
August 17, 2017 at 9:09 am #44720I have loved reading about your trip so far!! Makes me feel like I am there…or just wishing
I agree with you on Crush!! The last time we were there, he was great!!
And I too am a little surprised on Figment!!
August 17, 2017 at 5:36 pm #44777@acamm We plan to do Test Track Friday morning
August 17, 2017 at 5:43 pm #44779Update: We got back to the park around 6:15pm. We saw the pixar shorts 3D video at Imagination Pavilion which was pretty cool! Worth a trip if you have time to spare. Then we went on the Journey into Imagination with Figment with a 10 minute posted wait…more like 3 minutes.
We walked over to club cool and had our first timer try out the Beverly As you can imagine :sarcasm font: she loved it! :end sarcasm font:
We walked over to Mexico and did the Gran Fiesta Tour, then to Norway to use our FP+ for Frozen Ever After. The posted wait was 85 minutes and it took us 20 minutes with FPs So yeah, no FastPass for Frozen? Abandon all hope! Disappear! Disappear!
We got a good viewing spot for IllumiNations between Mexico and Norway. This is still a good view with relatively few people trying to see it there so I highly recommend it While waiting we sent a runner (me) to get some food from La Cantina. We got the nachos and Tacos de Pollo. Both were satisfying The show was great but the globe didn’t open so I’m guessing that function was broken this time around
Afterward, rather than fight the exodus, we shopped in Mouse Gears for a bit and then left. Pretty good close to the evening!
August 17, 2017 at 6:02 pm #44782Bleh! I hate the Short Film Festival! Today, I saw posted it was a 125 minute wait! People must like it
everybody loves Beverly
Sounds like a fun day!

That’s the beauty of WDW, something different for all different tastes. that had to be a glitch on the wait. I can’t ever imagine it a two hour wait, not even during Christmas.
August 17, 2017 at 6:16 pm #44788What a fantastic EPCOT day!! The food sounds delicious!!!!!! Good plan on skipping Figment with that long wait early on! It seems like a ride that the wait time bounces a lot! Same with SSE! If it’s long, check back later! Bummer about the globe not opening during Illuminations though. The nachos are pretty tasty at Mexico! We had them for the first time on one of our last trips! Since we live in the southwest and have really good Mexican and New Mexican food here, we tend to not eat it when we travel. But we were happy with them and would get them again! Agreed on Frozen! We actually opted to not get a FP for this trip because we’ve ridden it several times since it opened. If we happen to catch it at rope drop, we will. My sister, niece and brother-in-law are meeting us there at rope drop during our next trip. So I’m sure they will want to rope drop it. They live in Orlando but don’t get to ride it often because the FP’s are always gone by 30 days out and they sometimes just pop over for an afternoon.
August 17, 2017 at 6:48 pm #44794Beverly … yum. :|
Thats weird about the globe not opening in Illuminations! I hope they fix it soon!
August 18, 2017 at 5:22 pm #44944Wow a 30 min wait for Imagination?? YIKES! Since when is that a ‘popular’ ride?
Since FP+. Really. It’s skewing the wait times of everything. On my last trip was a 40 minute wait and so was The Great Movie Ride. I had walked on to both every time before FP+. I read recently on Twitter I think that someone was at Epcot and Frozen was a 60 min wait while Spaceship Earth was 85 min. Absurd.
