How do you feel about this rumor?
RUMOR: Nighttime Replacement for IllumiNations at Epcot is Nearing Completion
February 27, 2018 at 1:49 pm #67930Never been a fan of Illuminations (yeah go ahead and boo me) so I am fine with a replacement.

You know what, I’m not a fan either (I’ve never felt comfortable saying that about the beloved show before ), so I’d be good if this were true too.
February 27, 2018 at 2:15 pm #67979How do I feel about the rumor? Well, like Jamie and disneygal, I’ve never been a big fan of Illuminations either. But that’s personal preference.
My as unbiased opinion as i can get is, it’s been there since 1999, going on 20 years. It’s time for a change. Note I said “change”, not removal without a replacement! I will say though, they set the bar pretty darn high in my opinion with HEA so I hope they would or will do something just as spectacular!February 27, 2018 at 2:16 pm #67980
RIDisneyPinGuy182 XPI could take or leave the show, and they have robbed us of far more beloved things, so… whatevs
February 27, 2018 at 2:42 pm #67985When it comes to IllumiNations, I think for my opinion, I will defer to someone who is now (and somewhat unfortunately) a permanent resident of the area. Elsa, what do you think?
Let it go! Let it go!
And thank you for your official statement, Elsa. As long as it is replaced and not just removed, it sounds like we’re all for it!
Back to you, Chuck!
February 27, 2018 at 2:45 pm #67986I love Illuminations. I love the preshow music, I love when they blow out the torches, it all has such a special place in my heart. I do think it’s time for something new though. I just hope that I get a chance to see it one more time before they move on. Cuz Disney has a bad habit of announcing on Tuesday that something will be closing that Sunday

chris_white2323327 XPI really enjoy Illuminations, but I get it when people say there’s a need to change it up. I haven’t seen it enough to get tired of it, and I really hope this change happens later this year, so I get a chance to shoot Illuminations in May.
February 27, 2018 at 3:56 pm #67994I love the music pre-show and during the show. I love the fireworks and lasers. I love the lights that come on and light up the World Showcase skyline. But the globe part is really drawn out for way too long. I’m ok with an update but really hope it doesn’t become more projections on buildings or water screens. I know that is cheaper than fireworks but I like fireworks and don’t want them to all go away!
February 27, 2018 at 4:22 pm #67998I like listening to the music here on D-Cot, but I’ve never been a fan of Illuminations… We’ve never been able to stand still long enough to watch it. When I hear the music here at my desk, though, it does make me feel like I’m in Epcot.
February 27, 2018 at 4:26 pm #67999Oooooooooooooh… this is TOUGH!
I ROE. Love the preshow, the music, the story, the celebration of life and promise of rebirth.
But I have to admit… that’s barely half of my Evening at Epcot. And we all know what the other half of that beloved hour-long track is? I miss Tapestry of Nations more.
It astounds me that I was 17 years between visits to Epcot. But I was. Someone was talking about not seeing the value of park-hopping? We park hopped during my family’s week there… and most nights we caught the two ToN parades and wrapped up with RoE. Now, without the parade, it’s just not quite as magical. (For that matter, one-score after its introduction, the globe is a tick low-resolution at this point, I think…)
And frankly? I enjoyed the earlier iterations of Illuminations, too. In fact, when I rediscovered the various Illuminations tracks, I realized where I had heard so many pieces of classical music before — from Illuminations in the 90s!
So in conclusion, knowing the success of Happily Ever After in succeeding Wishes, I have faith that Disney will come up with a suitable successor to this nearly 2-decade-old show. Maybe someday they’ll bring it back… and bring Tapestry of Nations with it.

Ain’t that the truth!
February 27, 2018 at 5:49 pm #68007I love the music pre-show and during the show. I love the fireworks and lasers. I love the lights that come on and light up the World Showcase skyline.
Echoing this, I also love the music and like Kelly said I think blowing out the torches is awesome! Lighting up World Showcase is pretty magical too. But I’ll concede it’s not my favorite nighttime show and we didn’t catch it on my last Disney trip.
Like others have said, I’d want it to be replaced (ahem, MSEP) and I’d want the replacement to be good like Happily Ever After not so-so like River of Light.
February 27, 2018 at 6:09 pm #68009I love Illuminations, especially the Holiday version, and will be so sad to see it leave. It is probably my favorite attraction of all. Seems like when Disney does a replacement in the past few years, it is never as good. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!
February 28, 2018 at 8:23 am #68059I am so sad about this…. seriously. I LOVE Illuminations!!
