Hollywood Studios is the only park where I don’t have favorite restaurants, we always seem to end up at PizzeRizzo (formely known as Pizza Planet) and the ABC Commissary whenever we visit. Backlot Express offerings in the past have been…meh and the restaurants on Sunset Boulevard don’t seem to have anything exciting.

What are your favorite Quick Service places to visit at Studios? I need some inspiration!

What are your favorite Table Service restaurants at Studios and favorite dish?

I saw Fairfax Fare has a new rice bowl that looks interesting…http://wdwnt.com/blog/2017/10/review-new-7-layer-rice-bowl-coco-cupcake-fairfax-fare-disneys-hollywood-studios/

My favorite restaurant at TheStudios is the Brown Derby Lounge. I guess that’s table service…but it doesn’t require reservations.

The quick serve at DHS are all pretty bad. If I had to pick, it would be PizzeRizzo.

TABLE SERVICE on the other hand, we always try to go for Sci-Fi Dine In. Nowhere else.

My answer isn’t probably too helpful :p

My favorite QS to recommend is ABC Commissary, they have a variety of sandwiches and favorites to choose from the menu.

I know some don’t like the Disney pizzas but the pizza/caesar combo at PizzeRizzo is pretty good!

When it comes to quick service, I agree DHS is very lackluster. I make a point of staying away from anything on Sunset Blvd because that’s where most everyone else goes. After that, if I MUST get a QS meal there, it’s at the Commissary, PizzeRizzo, or the Backlot Express and probably one of the first two.

For Table Service, DHS pretty much rocks!   The only exception is Hollywood & Vine. It’s not that it’s terrible, it’s just not that great for the Disney surcharge. I can safely recommend ANY of the others having visited each multiple times. I’m a fan of the Fried Chicken at 50’s Prime Time, just about anything at the Derby, but definitely the Cobb Salad. At Sci-Fi, LOVE the atmosphere – food holds its own, but it’s not much to write home about IMO. Mama Melrose’s is one of the better Italian restaurants on property – not the BEST (that would be Trattoria on the Boardwalk), but quite good

I’m with @SEJ101 on the quick service places at DHS :( If we have the time, we usually opt to walk or take the boat over to the Boardwalk and grab a quick service meal at the Boardwalk Bakery. The desserts there alone are worth the trip! :p As far as table service places, I love Sci-Fi and 50s Prime Time! The salmon dish at Prime Time has always been really good, and you can’t beat the burgers and milkshakes at Sci-Fi!

We ate at the Brown Derby and I was not that impressed for the 2 dining plan credits it took, I liked Sci-Fi a lot and also 50’s Prime Time, also we ate at Mama Melrose and that was really good too !

@nascfan Had the rice bowl yesterday! He said they were pleasantly surprised by it!

We honestly like PizzeRizzo! My hubby likes their meatball sandwich. I get their Gluten Free Pizza and salad and I really enjoy them both! It’s air conditioned, and usually pretty quiet there. Plus, there are restrooms upstairs! They do often close by 4pm, depending on day of the week and the season, so keep that in mind. We’ve done Backlot a few times in the past and it’s average food. The nice part about there is the free refills on drinks. On our trip in April, we did end up at the Dockside Diner one night because pretty much everything else had closed at that time of day. They had foot long all beef hot dogs with pulled pork on top and pork sliders. They were honestly very good! But we easily could have shared the hot dog. It was super rich and filling. This is my least favorite park to eat in, but we’ve found a few things!

As far as sit down, I’ve only eaten at Sci-Fi in recent history and that was a couple of years ago now. However, we really really enjoyed our meal there! We will be eating at 50’s Prime Time in January for my nieces birthday. I last ate there 20 years ago! I remember enjoying it back then! So I hope it’s still just as good!

I honestly avoid QS at DHS… Had a pizza at Pizza Planet many many years ago, and it tasted like a frozen heat & eat.

50’s Prime Time was a must do at one time, but has fallen from grace. It is an okay meal with okay experience as of late, and I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat there anymore.

We dined at SciFi for the first time last trip, and we were pleasantly surprised… However, I would say go, only if in the mood for burgers.

Mama Melrose’s is really a (not-so) hidden gem… I like the pasta in vodka sauce, but we have had members of our travel party rave about the steak and pork dishes.

The character breakfast at Hollywood & Vine is excellent. The buffet was better than just about any other I have had at WDW. Character interaction was very good. As far as character breakfasts go, I rank it above Akersus, ‘Ohana, miles above Chef Mickey… and about on-par with Garden Grill (different meal, obviously).

If PizzeRizzo is your style go ahead. I happen to love the place. I just know a few people who don’t :mickey:

QS at HS does suck. No other way to put it. We eat at The Brown Derby for a late lunch which holds us out for a bit then we would snack on something when hungry. We also like 50’s Prime Time too…. other than that, there is nothing to write home about.

We ALWAYS eat lunch or dinner at Mama Melrose. We love their entire menu! My husband says its the best steak on WDW property! My boys love their pizza and pasta. The Mozzarella & Tomatos…. and also the Calamari appetizers are delicious too. I LOOOVE the Ceafood Cioppino which can be made with gluten free pasta. HOWEVER>>> The best item on their menu is the Shrimp Campanelle – OMGOSH delicious!! All of their pizzas and pastas can all be made gluten free :) Another reason we keep going back is they have the BEST red wine Sangria… omgosh its so yummy and perfectly tart and sweet at the same time!

For quick service at HS we either walk over to Epcot or we eat at the ABC Commissary usually… they have good salads! Last month we did eat at Pizza Rizzo where we all had pizzas (Gluten free for me) and beers / wine. It was just ok for us… nothing special.

In June we went to both Mama Melrose and Sci Fi. Both were amazing and i would do them again! Sci Fi is just burgers and shakes but so good. Mama…we had steak, lasagna, etc and everyone loved what they ordered. In fact I am taking my mom to MM in March.

@eeyorepoohfan, I will have to ask him about the rice dish!

I was thinking about Min and Bill’s for those hot dogs, we had some at the All Star Movies food court one late night and were surprised by how good the chili dogs were! So I’m hoping it’s more or less the same type of thing served there.

We have an ADR booked at 50s Prime Time on our Studios day, looking forward to it!

Looks like we are all in agreement, not the best quick service eats at Studios!
