I love the sound of the 5k course! Is it the same do you know or does it change each year? I don’t know why but I didn’t know they give you snack boxes at the end. That’s neat! I’m sorry you couldn’t stop for characters because of the cold :( I totally understand that! I’m glad to hear about your park day afterwards and what that was like with the marathon crowds. Thanks for sharing the pictures, I love the look of that Coco exhibit!

The 5k course stats pretty much the same! They vary it within the park a bit. Sometimes you run by The Seas and sometimes you don’t. But it’s always the same start, loop World Showcase, some variance at this spot, then same exit. Yep! Snack boxes at the end of every race at Disney! They also hand out bananas, bottled water and Powerade (I can’t remember if they have Powerade at the 5k but know they do at the longer races). It was so cold! None of us could imagine stopping and waiting in a 20+ person deep line and then try to get moving again! It was a nice day at the parks! Crowds were heavier for our marathon weekend because it fell earlier in January. So they still had holiday crowds plus marathon crowds. So it was busier than usual. They shifted it back a weekend so now it won’t be AS crowded. The Coco exhibit is cool and still there!

That’s exciting! :) I love that you get snack boxes. I know most races have something but I did one 10k where they ran out of Gatorade and bananas! :surprised: I’m with you, I wouldn’t be able to get moving and warm up again if I stopped in a line that long!

It’s all about the snacks! Disney won’t run out either! ;) For character stops you really need to be picky! You can usually look online to see which characters have been out on courses before. But they really do change many of them up from year to year. I didn’t have anyone I was willing to wait long for. Ryan said if her saw Launchpad McQuack or Darkwing Duck or Robin Hood that he would absolutely stop and wait for those. I did some run by selfies at the half and full.

I’ll have to do some research. I don’t know which characters I think would be an absolute must to stop for, but a friend of mine who ran Dopey (not sure what year) said he regrets not stopping for more characters. He said it’s something exclusive to Disney but you can run half and full marathons elsewhere if you’re wanting to get a personal best on time. He told me to be mindful of keeping within the pace requirements and not to waste time, but also to take advantage of the characters.

They do hand out Powerade after the 5k. I got several bottles in April after ours.

@starbee That’s exactly what I would recommend too! Enjoy your time and where you are! That really is the whole point of running at WDW! As long as you finish each race before the hard sweep you will get your challenge medals!

@starbee A Disney race is not the place to try for a PR. The slower the better, take it all in, enjoy the sights. Like Heather said, as long as you stay in front of the balloon ladies, you’re fine. And don’t forget, they don’t step off until the very last person does. So don’t be that person and you have extra cushion.

@nascfan Awesome on the Powerade! Right, all I’d be aiming for would be making it LOL he said he could too caught up in keeping his pace and wishes he hadn’t. I just want to run at my favorite place in the world and get some bling ;) I know what you’re talking about but balloon ladies sounds so comical yet ominous at the same time LOL
