    Hi All,

    I have been to Disney World almost every time of year, but this year we are going January 3 – 7. I am very nervous about the crowd levels as I generally try to stay away during the super crowded times. We are going during this time because my brother and his family are coming, and they did not want to take my niece out of school to visit (which I can understand). I tried to steer as clear of the peak crowds during this time as possible, but know there will be still be heavy crowds. My question is, will they be miserably heavy like on New Year’s Day, or will we get some relief since we are showing up on the 3rd? Thanks for your input!

    I’ve seen that most of the crowds are gone by January 4. You should be fine :cool: :up:

    Well, normally I’d say you should be good, but that’s marathon weekend this year. I’d expect extremely heavy crowds because of that. I don’t say that to frighten you but more to prepare you. We are going down to cheer on eeyorepoohfan and her husband and sister in their quest to complete the Dopey challenge and we are preparing ourselves for quite heavy crowds.

    @eeyorepoohfan
    , can you add anything?

    @aphernandez I have never been to WDW during that week, however in 2015 we were there the week of Christmas where every day was a 9 or 10 on the crowd level calendars. I can HONESTLY say that we only ‘felt’ crowded in the Magic Kingdom park mid day. Yes the wait times for attractions were CRAZY long, but we used FP+ and got to the parks right when it opened and were able to ride what we wanted with little to no wait in the morning. I say all of this, just ease your mind :heart: Even if the parks are crowded, if you have a good plan, and you have your FP’s booked… you will have an AMAZING time :) :heart:

    It will be crowded no matter what. It’s Marathon week/weekend. My sister and her family were in Magic Kingdom on the Sunday of marathon day for my nieces birthday and they said it was absolutely crowded and it took them nearly an hour just to get to parking. So if you go knowing that it will be crowded, you will be okay. I don’t know if they other parks are as crowded. But they host the 5k on Thursday, 10k on Friday, half marathon on Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday. There are over 40,000 participants combined in these races, plus their family/friends. So it will be heavy crowds by the weekend for sure. Just be sure to be to the parks early, get your major must do’s scheduled on FP+ and you should be good to go!

    That’s marathon week… be prepared for crowds

    I’ve been down Marathon week multiple times. It has gotten busier each year. Magic Kingdom tends to be the worst, crowd-wise, by a large margin. The week following the Marathon, the parks empty out and all attractions outside of the top A-ticket are walk-ons.

    Also be prepared, the weather is finicky that time of year. We have experienced everything from sunny and 80’s to 30’s and sleet. Pack accordingly.

    On the whole, I really enjoy visiting that time of year. Have a magical trip!

    Thanks everyone for your input! I didn’t even consider the marathon weekend, so I’m glad that you guys clued me in so I can be prepared. As long as it doesn’t feel crowded, I am usually fine, but when it’s wall to wall people and I can’t see anything except people, that’s when I get a bit freaked out LOL. I’m really short so when I’m surrounded by people I typically can’t see anything at all. I’ve left MK before in October because it was wall to wall people. I don’t mind long wait times, it’s just huge crowds that make walking difficult that get me uptight.

    When I went as a kid, we went on the 4th of July, and I don’t even remember the crowds I was having such a blast. So I’m keeping that in mind for my niece and nephew, because this trip is really about them :)

    @aphernandez You hit the nail on the head, being prepared for crowds (big or small) is key. As long as you have a plan you will be golden! :up:

    Yep! What she ^^ said! Having a plan is the key. You can have a good time in the most crowded of seasons, as long as you prepare and plan. Have a wonderful time!
