@imarebelpilot, I’d love to “magically arrive” but, I also love the anticipation stage of the trip. If there were going to be a surprise Disney trip in our family, someone would have to surprise ME. Having me in on it would almost certainly lead to surprise spoilage.
Ditto that! I wouldn’t be able to keep my mouth shut!

bexruns374 XPOh it was much easier when they were younger. Not so much nowadays since I tell them everything.

Grumpytude499 XPWe’ve done both a countdown and I pulled the surprise on my sons. Our last WDW visit their Mom had a convention there. The boys had been told that Mommy’s plane arrived really early so the would have to get up to go get her. I told them at the airport when we had to get the bags out of the trunk. I think next time will be the middle groun d. Not a surprise but not a huge countdown either. Keeping the surprise was soooo hard to do.
April 18, 2017 at 1:05 pm #229052013 Countdowns. One for my daughter (6) on her second visit and one for my nieces (11 & 13) on their first. Each envelope contained an interesting WDW fact on a note card and a “prize”. The 30-day countdown included 25 trading pins (bought in a lot of 100 on ebay) and a few other items from a pack of gum for the plane ride to a $50 Disney gift card for spending at the parks.
My daughter’s countdown included photos of things she might be looking forward to doing again. My nieces’ countdown included photos of things they would be doing for the first time – including flying on an airplane! Obviously, I have more pics of my daughter’s countdown because my sister never thought to take any pictures at her house unless I texted her and asked.

That’s how we’ve done it for years. A whole lot cheaper than buying one of their sets. And we can split them and all have a good amount to trade.
April 18, 2017 at 2:22 pm #22916Yep, 100 pins to trade. And I gave 25 pins to each of 3 kids. Guess who got the other 25…. ME!
April 18, 2017 at 2:32 pm #22917We’ve never done pins before but i figure we are there for 10 days and if it is busy…it’ll give the kids one more thing to do? i found a guy on ebay who sells 50 for $20 and then he has some lanyards that run $3-$6. i figure that’s not bad?
April 18, 2017 at 2:40 pm #22918That’s not bad at all Jamie. Good find.

Beats the heck outta Disney prices! :p
April 18, 2017 at 4:34 pm #22933you guys have problems with the quality? i’m hoping “used” pins aren’t all beat up!
April 18, 2017 at 7:18 pm #22947@jamiedawn27 Some were in better shape than others but I thought they were all fine. They were all certainly trade-able. I’d say just make sure the seller has high ratings by a large number of reviewers and I’d expect you’ll be happy.
April 18, 2017 at 8:09 pm #22949@connie96 well I talked to the hubby and he’s game. Woot woot!
April 18, 2017 at 8:32 pm #22951Yep, what Connie said. Kathy makes sure there are high ratings on the seller and by descriptions and recommendations. We’ve even been lucky to get some we don’t want to trade before!

Grumpytude499 XPWell to let the secret out of the bag, selling on eBay is what I do. Mostly antique/collectible books and ephemera. I haven’t mentioned this due to some of the negative eBay comments I’ve seen. It does pay to check out your seller. If you click on their feedback # it will open up and you can check much further by clicking on the links. A seller really has to try hard to have bad ratings due to some of eBay’s policies so the best thing you can do is to ask questions and ask for more picture if needed. Anything a seller tells you becomes “part of their description” so if your item doesn’t match what they say a return should be simple. Used pins will show some wear but serious wear should be noted by the seller. I hope it works out for you @jamiedawn27
