REVIEW! Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Are you revved up about Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway? I sure was! I made sure to wear my Great Movie Ride t-shirt today too. As expected, it received lots of attention.

We had a FastPass+ for this so we skipped most of the queue. As I understand it, there is a lot to see. But, I will take my 10 minute wait over 150 minutes. 😁

!! POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT !!

At the beginning of the ride you are invited to watch the premiere of a new Mickey Mouse cartoon, Perfect Picnic, in which Mickey and Minnie Mouse prepare for a picnic outing and encounter Goofy conducting a train. During the premiere there is an explosion caused by a pie getting stuck in the train engine. The movie screen explodes open, allowing us to enter into the cartoon world.

As we walked through we were brought to the final queue area before boarding the train with Goofy as the conductor. Nothing can possibly go wrong. Right? 😋

@Chelle gave us a great tip and that was to make sure we got the first train car. You are able to really enjoy every scene in this attraction with being in the first car. She rode the first, third and fourth and said the first is the best. So with that, she requested the first car and we got it.

I could go into detail about the entire ride, but if you want you can simply watch a POV of it on YouTube. I will go through some highlights.

Each scene is colorful, lively and overall stimulating. The music is catchy (I’m still hearing it in my head!). “Nothing can stop us now…” 😐 You can listen to this track and the complete ride-through in the jukebox.

The way Disney Imagineers featured a new technology known as “2 and 12 D” (3D without glasses) to give depth to the 2D environments is jaw-dropping. I mean, WOW!

Did you know this ride also includes more hidden Mickeys than any existing ride.

I’ll have to go through that in another article some other time. 😃

The trackless ride system is definitely the direction Disney is taking in all their new attractions. Rise of the Resistance uses the same technology.

Do you know how when you revisit an attraction there is usually something new you will notice? I can totally see that here. There is so much going on that you will have to ride it multiple times to see it all. Now that’s pretty awesome.

The Great Movie Ride

I still miss this attraction. I know some people might say it was old and antiquated, but I miss the old Hollywood. I do love that Mickey and the gang finally got their own attraction. With all the land they have here at Walt Disney World, maybe they could have constructed a new building for this and just update The Great Move Ride. The name of the park is Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Right? I guess I’ll just have to sing and dance in the rain by myself.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is definitely a must-see when visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This place is definitely becoming more than just a half-day park visit. 👍

  3. Thanks Steve!  We can’t wait to ride this one! Hopefully we can squeeze it in this May! :) :)

  4. half day park? What? No! I’m scheduling our family to go there 3 of our 6 days…cuz if momma don’t get them on the Star Wars ride, momma will never hear the end of it.

    • That’s what I was saying. It used to be a half-day park. Not anymore!
