My first runDisney event was the Disney Marathon in WDW in January 2016. I only did the 10K that year and it was a lot of fun. Then in November, I ran the Wine and Dine Two Course Challenge: 10K and 1/2 Marathon. 10K was fine, but I struggled with the half. Probably because I, literally, “trained” by running a 1/2 marathon that July… And that was it!! HAHA! I’m signed up for the Wine and Dine again for this November, but I don’t think I’ll go. I’m just not physically ready to run this time around. Maybe I’ll go next year at some point.

@croaker I don’t know why they allow narrow areas. I honestly think they think of just the front of the pack corrals and crowd levels, not mid pack or back, where there’s the bulk of runners. I’ve yet to run a Disney race on either coast that didn’t have some narrow areas. As I mentioned Avengers was the best, least crowded and therefore I didn’t feel any tight areas! Did you do Dark Side in 2016 or 2017? The completely changed the course between those two! 2016 had the horrible narrowing funneling on the dirt road at the end of the race. 2017 they had runners in just one lane running out of AK and I could hardly move. Same with the path from HS to EPCOT! But overall 2017 Dark Side had a much better course.

we ran the dark side 2016. with the aweful bus line that we logged at 5 miles when we finally got onto the bus (at the espn zone)

@croaker Yikes on the bus!!! I had serious knee issues when I finished that race. So we didn’t go see characters after. We took the path to the buses and were thankful our bus was one of the closest! But the finish line was pretty far from the buses. I was just so thankful we ended at EPCOT this year! It went much better!!!

Great job! Yep, that may not have been enough training last year! :surprised: If you jumped on training now, you could probably survive Wine & Dine this year! The medals look cool!!

Anyone know how the F&W course is? Is it alot of road time with minimal park running? I can’t seem to find the course for this year.

@Jloosh78 They release the course when the digital event guide is released, usually about 2 weeks before the race. They don’t usually vary a whole lot from year to year, so you can look at previous maps for an idea. Yes, all WDW races are a lot of road running. This race typically ends by running Hollywood Studios, then the walkway to the International Gateway and finish just outside of EPCOT in the parking lot. It’s helpful to finish at thevparks because it perks you up a bit!

Thank you! I do have the course map from last year. Good to know it will be similar if not the same. How is that after party thingy they give you for later that night?
