Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon April 2018 Day 2

Thursday April 19th:
6:30am alarm. Ran a 5k around the resort to stretch our legs before our race on Sunday. It was 59* and 87% humidity but it felt very hot. Race forecast will be 71* and humid at the start. We showered and were to the food court by 9:20am. Got the bounty platter. We waited about 20 minutes for the Expo bus to arrive. We talked with a family about the races at the stop and on the bus. This was their first Disney race and had lots of questions. We were happy the help! We were dropped off at 10:35am and made our way to find Scott and Kathy. They had beat us there by quite a bit since we had to wait for the bus. We all went and picked up our race bibs and shirts and it took no time at all! I was so excited for Scott and Kathy to pick of their first RunDisney event bibs!!!!! We then went to the Vendor building and strolled around. I stopped and had my picture taken with Jeff Gallaway. He writes the walk/run training plans that I follow for my races. He had a chatty person with him and I had to wait a bit for my picture. We then went to the RunDisney merchandise building! This is where the fun stuff is! We all found lots of cool things to buy for race weekend! We then took advantage of photo ops with Jabba the Hutt and then the Storm Troopers. Said goodbye to Scott and Kathy so they could drop off their race stuff in their room. Ryan wanted to go back to the vendor building to buy a set of new headphones. After buying the headphones we caught the bus back to our resort.

Our room was being cleaned when we got there, so we just hung out and walked around a bit. When we got back in our room, we took pics of our merchandise and race stuff. We refilled our Camelback with ice water. At the bus by 2pm and headed to Disney Springs. We had around a 20 minute wait for our bus. We met up with Scott & Kathy at Pizza Ponte for a late lunch. Oh my goodness! Such amazing pizza and great prices!! AND you can use your annual pass discount there too! We all walked all of Disney Springs and stopped in various stores. We stopped into the Polite Pig because we heard they got in these awesome chocolate chip cookies from a local bakery. They had then and HOLY COW, they were amazing!!!!!! They almost taste like raw cookie dough! I was in heaven! After a few more shops we said goodnight to Scott and Kathy. They had to be up earlier than us for the 5k. We would be cheering them on, but we wouldn’t have to be awake quite as early. We gave them their last race reminders before sending them off to bed. Ryan and I stopped in Erin McEnna’s and I picked up a gluten free cupcake and a donut for morning. We had Earl of Sandwich for dinner. We were to the boat dock by 8pm and on a boat at 8:25pm. Back in our room at 9pm. I went ahead and showered tonight so that I didn’t have to worry about it when we get up super early to go cheer on Scott and Kathy for their 5k! Lights out just after 10pm.
