I say it’s been maybe two years since we have dined there…. it is pricey and to be honest, we think that the resort restaurants are better than any park restaurant. This is just my and my wife’s opinion

We’ve never dined at Le Cellier. I’ve heard it’s good, but pricey. Thanks for sharing that review! Even though I haven’t eaten there, I can agree with some things just based on looking at the menu. It does seem very expensive for what you are getting. There are so many great places to eat at WDW that are quite a bit cheaper, but just as good! So our way of dealing with this is eating at the Canada booth during Food & Wine! They have their cheese soup and filet on the menu! Way cheaper than sitting down for a full meal there, but we get a good taste of it. So for now, we may just settle for F & W option!

@85glht I think many people, myself included, agree with you and your wife. The resort restaurants are much nicer. And, the atmosphere is generally better. For our EPCOT day on this trip, though, we won’t have time to scoot over to a resort to eat. Last visit, we had dinner at both Le Cellier and Chefs de France. Le Cellier was by far the better of the two. But with Le Cellier’s price changes… Oy. For that kind of money, we could sample several different quick service locations.

If you like steak, the Yachtsman Steakhouse is at the Yacht Club (go figure). It’s a quick walk out through International Gateway. Just a suggestion.:)

I know AllEars.Net is an amazing site to look up menu’s and prices for all Disney dining in WDW, Resorts, as well as DLR too. Lots of reviews on there, with the mind of not everyone has the same taste pallet. I find that really tricky with food reviews. Im a wimp and hate spicy food, but I can handle a little heat. I went on there a lot for this next trip to help me think of new places to eat.

We had never eaten at the Hollywood Brown Derby and when we did I was shocked that it took 2 dining credits, it was good but I was mad at myself for not looking at that before I made the reservation. The food was really good there, the steak we had you could cut with your fork it was so tender and we loved the desserts they had too.

Breesmommy – I’ve eaten there too, but on Tables in Wonderland instead of a dining plan. I really enjoyed it as well. I had seafood instead of steak, but it was still quite good! My then fiancee [now wife] were celebrating our engagement that trip and they gave us complimentary champagne! They serve a grapefruit cake for dessert which I highly recommend.

Anyone read Josh’s review following a recent trip to Le Cellier? You can find it here: http://www.easywdw.com/easy/blog/le-cellier-review-and-epcot-canada-update/. I am really starting to question why I MUST go there when all I want is the cheddar cheese soup (which I made at home for Easter one year). The prices are crazy. Anyone else go to Le Cellier in the last few months?

Though I have not been recently. I can say that every meal I have eaten there has been nothing short of perfect. Food, service, ambiance. I always order the mushroom filet and it is always cooked perfectly. Now, as far as value. On the DDP, I would say it is worth it, even at two credits (though it was a better value and further set apart when it was one credit). I likely would not go there paying cash, unless it were for a special occasion such as our anniversary.

Unfortunately, over the past 4 years or so, consistency in experience has not been Disney Dining’s strong suit, so essentially everywhere is a risk IMO. However, when this restaurant is on-point (and it always has been for me) it is top notch.

For those that want to do Hollywood Brown Derby more cost effectively, I would recommend the Fantasmic dining package and selecting that as your restaurant. It’s a set price and our meal came out cheaper than if we had paid for it outside of the package. The food was the same as the regular menu, we weren’t told what to eat, and they didn’t make the portion sizes any smaller. The food was absolutely delicious! Then of course you also get VIP tickets to see Fantasmic so you only have to get there 30 minutes beforehand to take your reserved seat. Only downside is we had to eat between 3pm and 5pm for “dinner” but I still think it was worth it and I would do it again!

I like Tables in Wonderland for the same reason. I know it’s not a good cost effective option for everyone, but I like that it doesn’t narrow down what you can order and discounts everything if the restaurant honors it (and most WDW TS restaurants do). I probably wouldn’t dine at a Signature restaurant without some sort of discount or bonus.

I’ve never done Le Cellier, but we did go to Shula’s before (I know not an option for the DDP crowd) and it was phenomenal. Best steak I’ve ever eaten!

    @starbee
That’s a good suggestion, I’ve only gotten drinks and appetizers at the Brown Derby in the patio section

@kcboston Swan and Dolphin restaurants are a good suggestion too for those who want something a little different. A friend of mine has raved about Shula’s and Bluezoo

@starbee We’ve dined at both Shula’s and Bluezoo, and they were both amazing experiences. Surprisingly enough, Bluezoo had one of the best desserts I’ve ever eaten! The waitress was telling us about the pastry chef, and the guy is an absolute rock star! For fun he makes those sugar sculptures that are absolute works of art, there was one on display in the restaurant and one in the lobby, and they were both exquisite.

Usually when we visit the parks, we get counter service food. Occasionally, we do reservation dining-when it’s for a special occasion because $$$

My mom requested a nice sit down meal at least once when we go for Tinkerbell in May and chose Ariels Grotto for lunch. I know many of you are WDWers, but has anyone else eaten there?
Their menu looks delicious and I’m already drooling over it.

Nope, never had a meal there. The menu looks good though. It is Disneyland, my wife and I feel that the food is better over there. I wouldn’t hesitate to try it.
