The first full day of our cruise on the Dream I actually didn’t take too many pictures…sorry folks!
The ship docked at Nassau for the day, and while about 1/3 of the people left the ship, we stayed aboard to explore and enjoy what the ship had to offer…besides, we paid for the ship, and anything at Nassau would cost extra. The attached photos are of the views pulling into the port. We were the 3rd cruise ship to dock. 2 others would dock later to fill up all the slips.
We slept in a little after our late night out seeing Christopher Robin and then explored our breakfast options. We got up too late to go to Enchanted Garden for their a la carte breakfast and decided to go to Royal Palace for their buffet offerings. We also went to Cabanas to get some things that Royal Palace didn’t have and everything Royal Palace did have. So on that note:
PLANNING TIP: Generally Cabanas has the best breakfast spread and will include everything offered at Royal Palace, but Enchanted Garden will have a la carte with some offerings you won’t find at either buffet.
One of the things I loved about food on this cruise was the fruit. Aside from the bananas and cantaloupe, which weren’t completely ripe, the other fruit was very fresh and sweet. The watermelon and pineapple were particularly good!
Next, we decided to get changed into our swimsuits for some water time! To be continued…

Studies have shown that by just enjoying living in the moment, you create more memories than when you’re constantly taking pictures…and cameras aren’t allowed on the Aquaduck So we took a ride on the Aquaduck and it really is a lot of fun! The wait for it grew substantially after our first ride, so we decided to try again some other time. The family pool areas were relatively full, but we went to the adults only pool and few were there. We chilled in the hot tub for a few minutes and loved that it had a glass bottom so you could see down to the dock below us!
As the adult pool began to get more folks trickling in, we explored the upper decks of the adult area and found another soaking area, and then…Satellite Falls! You’ll have to google the image for yourself, but this was easily the most secluded spot on the ship! Us and 4 other adults were in the falls with a few others lounging in the sun. It was so relaxing and we lingered there a while. Also up there was an amazing view from the front of the ship (I did take a photo of that).
We then decided to go to the other end of the ship to Goofy’s Sports Deck and play some mini golf. It’s 9 holes and you can play off Goofy’s shots or Max’s shots which were clearly marked. We went around twice to play every hole on both shots. Surprisingly, we did better taking Goofy’s more indirect routes to each hole Along the way, on hole 8, there was a book written by Ludwig Von Drake on the subject of getting the perfect shot (photo). If you take the time to read it, it’s quite entertaining!
As we were wrapping up mini golf, Christy spotted someone with a plate of sushi. Now I like sushi, but Christy lives for it almost, so we started heading toward Cabanas to see if that’s where it was. As we entered Cabanas, someone was exiting with sushi and Christy was so happy! So we had sushi for lunch (photo).
After lunch, we got cleaned up and changed to join the Midship Detective Agency and solve the Muppets case (photo of me studying the case file in front of our stateroom door). This is the coolest thing ever as you get to see all of the ship’s enchanted artwork (YouTube it) and thus see every deck of the ship! After that we went to the Buena Vista Theatre to see Ant-Man and the Wasp It was another fun movie on our trip and I look forward to seeing it again when it come out on disc…

For dinner, our rotation brought us to the Royal Palace. This one reminded me of an upscale version of Be Our Guest and I so much looked forward to it! We looked over the list of 4 appetizers and decided to try them all (photos).
I am pleased to say that ALL of them lived up to the hype, but two were far better than expected.
1) Duck Confit (slow cooked duck leg pulled and garnished with dried cranberries and walnuts) – This one was served chilled, and was a different take on Duck than I have previously had, but I enjoyed it.
2) Iced Lobster and Jumbo Shrimp (with green asparagus, horseradish cream, and dill dressing) – This one was also good, but there was little lobster involved.
3) Escargot Gratinee (herb marinated snails with chopped mushrooms, topped with garlic butter, served with a baguette) – We had never had escargot before, but figured the best time to try it would be with Disney and we were right! I never thought I would enjoy eating snails, but these were so well prepared I almost ordered another! I think if you like baked clams or mussels in a sauce, which we do, these would be right up your alley.
4) Breaded and Deep Fried Brie (with an orange and cranberry chutney) – There’s nothing quite like good French brie that oozes from a breaded pouch! WOW! So rich and so flavorful. The chutney complemented it very well too!…

I figured it would be fun to see how the napkins were folded at each table…looks like a dinner jacket (photo).
After appetizers, Christy felt she needed more vegetables (that’s something I don’t quite understand ). So she ordered a Farmhouse Salad (photo) – Lettuce, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, and fingerling potatoes, served with a goat cheese crustini and a olive vinaigrette. It looked fresh and Christy said it was good. I took her word for it
Then came the entrees we ordered (photos):
1) Chateaubriand Roasted Filet Steak (Roasted filet steak, crushed new potatoes with shallots, buttered green beans, red wine jus, and a Bearnaise sauce on the side) – This was our best pick by far of the entrees! Perfectly done filet.
2) Shrimp and Lobster Pasta (shell pasta with tarragon, gruyere, and cheddar cheese sauce, drizzled with a white truffle oil and topped with lobster and shrimp) – This one, especially with the lobster and shrimp portion (or lack thereof) was kind of underwhelming, but it was still good enough to finish.

After entrees came the much anticipated dessert! Both desserts were very WOW worthy and a perfect end to the meal (photos):
1) Grand Marnier Souffle (served with Grand Marnier creme anglaise) This one was had a quite potent flavor with the Grand Marnier throughout. It was soooooo good!
2) Tahitian Vanilla Creme Brulee (with Almond biscotti) – a great creme brulee to be sure! It did not disappoint.
Following dinner, we went to our stateroom briefly and saw how our bed was turned down this time (photo). Our stateroom host left us with towel swans, pirate coin chocolates and real red rose petals in the shape of a heart! This one is part of what got her the extra day’s tip
We then went to see Beauty and the Beast at the Walt Disney Theatre. The stage show was based on the live-action film (where we far prefer the animated classic), but it was extremely well done. They used projections to change the scenery and set pieced moved fluidly between scenes. The music and acting were all very good! They did an excellent job in the limited space they have to work.
It was Pirate night for this cruise, so after the show, we went to deck 10 (well deck 11 with a view of deck 10) to see the Pirates in the Caribbean (photo). It was a fun show where the pirates made up songs for some of the passengers they talked to. Jack Sparrow of course dropped in (literally from the forward funnel) and it all ended with fireworks off the starboard side (which was where we were standing). As with most Disney fireworks, no photos or videos can do them justice. They aren’t as spectacular as the ones at Walt Disney World, nor can they be, but they were quite a sight to see at sea!
Afterward we went to bed, another wonderful cruise day behind us.

August 18, 2018 at 7:28 pm #86070We also did not disembark when in Nassau. Been there before and, well…… yea we were all set. What we did do on that day was get a massage… that was awesome!
Can’t wait to see your review of Castaway Cay!
August 19, 2018 at 10:18 am #86084What a fantastic day! I totally agree with you about Cabanas, we completely enjoyed all our breakfasts that we had there a couple years ago on the Fantasy.
August 22, 2018 at 5:22 pm #86450That was smart to stay on board and experience the ship!
August 26, 2018 at 7:33 pm #86721Great tips on breakfast. And holy cow! All of the food looks so amazing!! I haven’t been to Nassau, but I like your idea of staying on the ship to experience it a bit less crowded. I love that you got to watch Christopher Robin on the ship! It was a cute movie!
September 9, 2018 at 9:18 pm #88218Do you think Ludwig overthought a few things?
That napkin fold is hilarious! It really does look like a dinner jacket!September 11, 2018 at 10:33 am #88377@sej101 He overthought, but came to the right conclusion!
