October Meet-Up Trip 10/10/18-10/16/18 Day 7

Tuesday 10/16:
6:15am alarm, per my usual I was awake just a bit before it went off. We showered and finished the last minute bathroom stuff packing. We got our luggage checked in and dropped off for our flight. And Dropped our carry on bag at bell services. Ryan was coughing a bit more today and not feeling awesome. So he was a bit slow going. We then went to breakfast. I had my last kids waffles for the trip. Always yummy! We were at the bus stop at 8:20am and the line was crazy long for the 9am park opening. We waited a bit for a bus and were dropped off right around 9am.We met Scott on the Tomorrowland Bridge so the 3 of us could ride Space. Kathy went and rode Haunted, I believe. Our plan was to standby Space and then use our FP’s for it. Standby ended up being 40 minutes because they were only running one side. We rode and then used our FP’s for it! Kathy met us. They had made a sign to prop on my that stated “Do Not Disturb!! Bringing Coffee!!” So I laid down on a bench for them to take pics! We then went and rode Pooh with our FP’s. Scott and Kathy had received a sprinkling of Disney Magic the day before and were gifted 4 Splash FP’s for anytime! So we went and rode that next! Finally!! We got to ride Splash with Scott and Kathy! We tried in January and in April but we couldn’t get there on time for our FP’s on those trips. Ryan and I hadn’t ridden Splash in a couple of years either. So it was fun to ride again! We did poncho up since we had to fly home that afternoon! Our final FP of this trip was for Thunder. We were so proud of Kathy! We usually ask for the front row for her. But she was feeling brave today and said she would take wherever they put us! Well, she ended up in row 10 and us 11!! She did awesome!!! We said our sad goodbyes to them at Pecos Bills so they could grab lunch and we needed to hurry to get back to French Quarter for our Tragical Express at 12:40pm. On our way out we found an ice cream cart and I got my only of the trip! We ate them on our walk to the bus. We left MK at 11:45am and had to wait a bit for the bus. But we got the Christopher Robin movie bus!!! So I was happy with that! We got back to FQ and filled our mug and water and didn’t wait long for our Tragical Express to arrive. We got a text that our flight out was delayed by 30 minutes. We had a long enough layer that we weren’t concerned.

At the airport we grabbed Chick-fil-a for a late lunch. TSA lines were short but we encountered a very jerky and rude TSA agent. Ryan put his hat and Oakley sunglasses in the bin but the flaps from the x-ray machine had knocked them out of the bin. We tried to the the ladies attention that was sitting at the scanner viewing the contents. She refused to turn around. We were shouting “ma’am, excuse me, ma’am our glasses are about to get broken”! She eventually turned around. She looked at us and said “I don’t respond to ma’am, I only respond to officer” in an absolute rude tone. Ryan said “well then officer, you are about to crush my $200 sunglasses!” She barely stopped the conveyor belt in time before his glasses were crushed between the gap of the two belts. She was on her high horse and even the other agents were mumbling under their breath and shocked at her. And the thing that pisses us off is that she would have seen them on her scanner and would have seen that they were loose and she didn’t even attempt to do anything about it. We were so pissed. I didn’t feel like starting a confrontation with her over her behavior and didn’t want to deal with trying to find a supervisor. But that was the rudest agent we have ever ever encountered! Since when on earth do they DEMAND to be called officers?! I’ve only ever heard them referred to as agents. So she kind of ended our trip on a very sour note. We took our monorail to our gate area. Our flight was right on time for the new departure time. Our connection was in Austin and it was a short one due to the delay. But we left there right on time and managed to land 15 minutes early in El Paso! We got our checked luggage quickly and put on our jeans and jackets. It was 47* when we landed! A huge contrast to the 101* heat index earlier that day in Orlando! We stopped in El Paso for a quick dinner. Since Ryan was exhausted and not feeling well, I drove the hour home. We were home by 9:30pm. It was so great to see our Winnie pup again! And she was happy to see us too! I unpacked the majority of our stuff, got the laundry sorted and such. We had lights out at 10:30pm. Thankfully we don’t head to work until 1:30pm tomorrow!

Final thoughts: This was seriously a stinking hot trip! We’ve been most months of the year, including August, and this was the hottest and most oppressive temperatures we’ve faced! It was around 101* heat index nearly every day. We loved nearly every single dish we tried at the Food & Wine Festival. The Annual Passholder cutting boards are too cute! It was great to meet up with Scott & Kathy, Kelly & Cammie, Teri and Kailey! And I really liked being able to finally meet Robyn! We made the best of each day with the crowds and temperatures. The meet-up fell at one of the busiest times to visit WDW. It felt crowded and lines were long. But we made the most of it and rocked our FP’s and took breaks as needed. Thanks for reading along! Our next trip won’t be until April for our Star Wars Half Marathon. But we get to go for 10 days on that trip!! So I won’t complain too much!
