[RESOLVED] Not counting points

What remains the same is that it will always take 100 points to level up. Like I said, if you stay active, you will keep getting points in many different ways

I give up. To heck with the point thing. I’m just going to listen to the music and give up on the rest of the site. Too complicated!
It’s really not that complicated unless you were only here to get points and level up. The experience level is to show people’s activeness on the site, those who contribute from those who “lurk”. If you’re an active member of the community, your points reflect that and you shouldn’t be concerned. If you just want to be passive and not participate, the points will reflect that also. This has become skewed lately by people who go hard at the site trying to level up as fast as they can, so people who’ve been here for 5 weeks pass people who’ve been here for 5 years. I think the removal of points for liking will make it harder for people to level up without actually contributing in a productive way to the site and I think that’s a good thing
Points schmoints….. I have been on this board for quite some time and couldn’t care less about points. I have played most of the games but have exhausted all the questions and quotes that I care to conjure up. So I lurk and look for someone looking for advice/ opinions on how to tackle the World. So, I’m around just not posting up much, hence my LOW point count…. now I feel better

A friend first introduced D-CoT to me years ago, and I came for the music. I really had no desire to try and connect in any other way. I opened Mouse Chat one day and lurked…reading comments and getting a feel for the interactions among the listeners. One day I just jumped in and was welcomed warmly. And even though I have never met many of the folks I call friends here, I do feel a closeness that reaches deeper than just Disney. One of the things I love most about this community is not the music, but the people. Throughout the course of a day we could talk about things ranging from the highs and lows of the weather to the highs and lows of our lives. These days of interactions turn into months, and for some the months turn into years, and over these lengths of time genuine bonds are formed. There is a level of care, respect, and big-heartedness that is wonderful to a part of through this community. Oh…what were we talking about? Leveling up? Sorry about that…I am guilty of allowing the points system to consume me at times. It would feel as though I was using the site to earn status and the result was that I was not creating authentic interactions through “Likes” or creating playlists. But that is just me. On a personal level I am really glad to get back to being more thoughtful with my actions here without regard to earning points.
I can’t help but think about the birds that are in the pre-show for the Tiki Room:
All I think about during that preshow is WHY DID I COME IN HERE?
