smjj0 XPJust read an article where WDW is completely reorganizing Mousekeeping due to the increasing complaints over the lack of it. I do not know if I am allowed to post link here but it was on Tikiman’s webpage and his Facebook thread. It is very interesting…smjj
January 24, 2017 at 12:04 pm #9312Wow. Didn’t realize there was an issue with that. Our rooms have been quite tidy, but I guess we were just lucky.
January 24, 2017 at 12:11 pm #9317As a DVC Member, I find mousekeeping difficult. It’s much less frequent for DVC guests and it always seems like they come by on our second day (not needed yet) and then the day before we leave (a little late by that time). I like that they don’t come in every day, but the timing always seems to be off. But I don’t want a higher frequency of mousekeeping visits to steeply increase my annual dues!
January 24, 2017 at 12:13 pm #9319I have heard of some major complaints- like being gone all day and nothing is done or that you could tell it wasn’t cleaned well from the last person. They really need to get that fixed!
January 24, 2017 at 12:16 pm #9320@starbee – I didn’t think about that. DVC basically just gets trash and towel service after the 3rd night and a full cleaning after a week or something like that. With us they’ve been consistent with the timing of those things, but yeah I wouldn’t want more visits as a DVC member and certainly don’t need a dues price hike!

Only issue we’ve had staying at a regular resort out of pocket was on our wedding trip. My mother in law stayed at Art of Animation and had a few items stolen from her room, we can only figure during a Mousekeeping visit. We did alert Disney and they took care of it the best they could
January 24, 2017 at 12:21 pm #9322@rocketear99 You’re right, it’s trash and towel which isn’t the same. On our last trip there were 5 of us in a 1-bedroom, they gave us two hand towels and two bath towels – for 5 people! We called down to the front desk and they were like “we can bring you more towels for $6 a towel” :hmmph: after staying DVC for so many years, we were really surprised when we stayed at Universal last year that we got housekeeping service every single day!

I am curious, what was missing from her room?

dreamgirl201114 XPLast few visits, had to request more towels. There were three of us in AOA suite and only two full size towels in both bathrooms, but alot of facecloths….
Had to request more three days in a row. I would think given the suites can hold 6 people there would be more than 4 full size towels.January 25, 2017 at 3:21 pm #9629I am curious, what was missing from her room?
@StupidJudy She had gone to the outlet mall and bought some stuff at Vera Bradley. She left the items in the cardboard bag they put them in to carry them out the store, on top of her dresser. She came back to her room later and the entire bag was goneJanuary 25, 2017 at 3:24 pm #9630Last few visits, had to request more towels. It’s a 1 bedroom that sleeps 5, why did they think two of each towel was enough? They for sure knew there would be 5 people, 5 people need 5 towels!
January 25, 2017 at 3:29 pm #9633When I was on my girls trip we had to ask for soap, for some reason our room was stocked with shampoos and stuff, but not a single soap in the whole room! So bizarre!
On a Disney group on Facebook there was a woman who had her cell phone stolen from her room, the police worked with her using the “find my phone” feature and it was at the home of somebody from Mousekeeping!
I’m hoping this is a positive change, I know how hard of a job it is to be a Mousekeeper and that most of them do their best to do a fantastic job, I just think it’s impossible for most of them to do their job up to Disney standards in the time they are allowed.

Figment32 XPProbably really hard to fill those positions with good folks. Huge demand for that in the greater Orlando area.

Wow! There’s bad apples in every job field. I was happy with how Disney handled my mother in law’s situation. I agree, Mousekeeping is a hard job and I couldn’t do it. I think they do a good job, my issue was more the timing of the visits when you’re DVC (which is on Disney, not the mousekeepers) and that they wanted to charge me for having more than 2 towels for 5 people, again, on Disney not the mousekeepers.
I’m sure it is hard to fill those positions, especially since they need so many people!

zweltar5 XPGlad to hear of these efforts to improve housekeeping services. My wife and I have noticed a decrease in service quality since we started going semi-regularly in 2006.
