This was our touring plan for Hollywood Studios now that even then GMR is closed permanently :'( Anyway, this plan was a near perfect success:

Arrived at DHS at 8:40am on a Monday
Rope dropped at 8:50am 40% of people went to TSM, 40% went to RnRC, 20% went to ToT.
We went to RnRC and waited about 15 minutes to get on the actual ride    The crowd waiting to get in looked intimidating (backed up the gateway into the RnRC courtyard) but the line moved very quickly.
Went to Tower of Terror with FP+ at 9:25am (30 minute posted wait, but NOBODY was waiting except to get into the pre-show room) After ward the wait was 50 minutes as many folks had arrived to ride.
Took our time as we ventured out and watched the Frozen sing-a-long :elsa: Which is fun even if Frozen is not your thing, but you like good puns ;)
Saw MuppetVision 3D next, just waited for the next show to start.
Went to Toy Story Mania with FP+ at 11:40am. 60 minute posted wait.
Did some shopping and watched the Star Wars show on Hollywood Blvd. It’s OK, but skipable and I am big fan of Star Wars.
At lunch at 12:45pm at the Brown Derby with Fantasmic! Dinner Package.
Tried to see Indiana Jones at 3:15pm, but a T-storm cut it short
    Left for Afternoon Break
Planning to return by 7:30pm for Star Tours FP+ and enter Fantasmic! with our vouchers at 8:25pm for the 9:00pm show. Hoping it doesn’t get cancelled or cut short due to weather too :p I’ll let you know tomorrow if I can about how that turns out.

Bottom line. I can safely recommend seeing TSM or RnR at rope drop and using FP+ for the other. It should work well either way.

I’ve seen that after the last showing of Music of Pixar – Live, almost everybody either heads to Fantasmic or to get a spot for the fireworks.

I may have to see the Frozen sing-a-long now because of your recommendation to pun lovers :smirk:

The Star Wars stage show is kind of dumb in my opinion. :|

Sorry about the rain! We got some rain around that time too! :p

Seems like a fun day, hope the rest of it goes well! :mickey:

I hope Fantasmic isn’t rained out! Sounds like a good day minus a weather hiccup. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome 2nd day so far!

I’m really chuckling as I’m reading your trip report though… because A. this year in 2017 will be my 17th trip to WDW also ! And B. you are on the same exact park schedule as we are: AK Sunday, HS Monday …. if you go to MK on Tuesday I’m going to say that we are related LOL

I can hardly wait to see how your Monday turned out!

@Acamm We must be related then! Because we went to MK today! Epcot Wednesday, MK again Thursday, and Epcot for half a day on Friday :)

We returned at 7:30 and used our FP for Star Tours which was very needed. The posted wait said 20 minutes, but we waited like 15 minutes in the FP line and the Standby line was looping the external queue! I think they were having a 3D Glasses shortage combined with a couple of failed seat belts. They were handing out glasses as though they were being rationed and seemed uneasy and in a mild panic mode. They spend a lot of time desperately trying to find parties of 2 to fill gaps in the seating. 4 out of 6 simulators were being used and the one we got on had 2 seats out of commission due to failed seat belts I assume. Not the well-oiled machine I’m used to seeing there.

We got into Fantasmic! with our vouchers and the weather was not an issue! Great show and great seats! I highly recommend that Fantasmic! Dining Package. We will be doing it again. As for these summer crowds, it looked like the stadium started to fill up quickly. 30 minutes before showtime, the end sections were still empty, but 15 minutes before, forget getting seats.

Also for us, Fantasmic! was at 9:00pm and the Star Wars fireworks were at 9:30pm. We weren’t trying to see the fireworks, but if that was a goal we’d have only seen the last 5 minutes of it. There was no second Fantasmic! so if the times are that close together for you, you will have to choose one over the other to see.

Yea, glad the weather was not an issue for Fantasmic! Good tip on seeing that and/or Star Wars Galactic Spectacular, thanks.

Glad you got to see Fantasmic! It is a GREAT show! I love all of the characters and always get nervous Disney will budget cut half of them off of the boat.

I agree about the Frozen show. I cracked up at all of the jokes. I also cracked up that everyone, I mean EVERYONE, does sing along including the great big burly dad in a tank top with mean looking tattoos. LOL!

Looks like you did everything (that’s up and running) and HS! We havent done Fantasmic in years, might be something to consider.

@RocketEar99 That is too funny… especially because even the rest of your days for the week also match up to ours LOL Yep, definitely related !

So glad you got to see Fantasmic! We love it so much, and never miss it! The Poca scene always brings tears to my eyes because its so beautiful!

I look forward to reading more!

I do LOVE Fantasmic!! I have never done the Frozen show? But we are thinking of trying things we haven’t in the past at HS, because so many things are closed now. :'(

What a great day! It seems like your plan for the day worked well. We haven’t seen the updated version of the Star Wars Stage show. The first one was okay and we only saw it because we happened to be walking by when it was about to start. Something to pass the time, but not something I would go out of my way to see. We haven’t watched the Indiana Jones show in about 7 years! I think it’s time we see it again and hopefully our weather cooperates. We love the Star Wars Fireworks and prefer it over Fantasmic. We prefer Disneyland’s Fantasmic show but prefer having seats to sit in that WDW offers.

We’re going on a Monday
We plan to rope drop RnRC and FP TSM

Would you say there’s time to do RnRC twice at rope drop or no? My plan was identical to yours: RnRC then ToT, but if everyone’s doing that maybe it would work out better to do RnRC twice because the second time people have moved on to ToT? Or maybe they’re both just awful on standby by that time :p

Glad the weather held up for you  we were afraid we’d get rained out when we did the Fantasmic dining package but thankfully we didn’t. It is a fantastic show (see what I did there? :smirk: ) and the seats are great with the package! I highly recommend it too, especially if you’re eating at the Derby, amazing value there!

Yikes! :surprised: that’s awful! I was hoping they were keeping up with preventative maintenance and such, especially with so few attractions available at Studios. You can’t have what little you’ve got left go out of commission!
