KtP crew members are saying the same thing!
Guests offered Disney gift cards in exchange for not having their rooms cleaned
June 29, 2017 at 10:28 am #36065Wow I’m not sure how I feel about this!?!? I do like to come back to a clean room each night
June 29, 2017 at 10:29 am #36066That’s interesting that the initial rollout is targeting the Value resorts. Is it because there’s more rooms there, or do they think the people in the value rooms are more likely to take the gift cards instead of the mousekeeping? We stay DVC, so this is a moo point for us
June 29, 2017 at 10:41 am #36067I think it’s because there are more rooms at the Values. I’m intrigued. I could potentially see this happening for two of us for a shorter stay. For four and a longer stay I think we’d want the Mousekeeping, for the beds if nothing else. I sure as heck don’t change my own sheets at home every few days, and as long as they start out fresh and we can get replacement shampoos and soaps, we don’t create that much trash in a few days anyway.
June 29, 2017 at 10:41 am #36068I think many, certainly not all, people in value resorts are more budget conscious than say, those in Deluxe resorts. For me, I’d rather come back to a clean room. It is more refreshing to me that way. But for someone really stretching to go on their trip or for someone who isn’t as OCD as I am, they may rather have an extra $10 per day or whatever amount is offered in their pocket to buy something extra with.
June 29, 2017 at 10:42 am #36070The sad part is, that if this is successful, people will lose their jobs.
June 29, 2017 at 10:49 am #36076If this becomes a thing, I hope it extends to DVC. The way our trips have been more recently, we’ve received Mousekeeping either once or twice and it’s usually the second day of our stay (too soon) and the day before we leave (too late). I would gladly ditch that for a gift card because the current DVC Mousekeeping schedule hasn’t worked well for us anyway.

Agreed, it’s much nicer to come back to a tidy room after a long day in the parks! Maybe it’s tip related too, like you don’t tip (to save money or any particular reason), so you don’t really care if your room is tidied so here’s an option for you!
I noticed that on days where I left tips I had more goodies, extras of everything, towel animals or displays etc. On days I forgot, nothing.
For me, keep your gift cards, I stay in value resorts but I will gladly tip for the tidy room!

Me too, exactly.

Same here! Now, if I had the option for every other day and for the right price, I might do that.
June 29, 2017 at 1:52 pm #36132I would totally be on board with this! Being DVC, I’ve gotten used to not having daily mousekeeping so to get a gift card for making my own bed would be awesome to me!
June 29, 2017 at 4:06 pm #36160I’m on the fence, I do like coming back to a clean room and the kids love to see what positions they put the stuffed animals in but the gift card is a nice incentive
June 29, 2017 at 4:28 pm #36162I’d like to know how much we’re talking in the gift cards! That might be a deal I’d take.
