Sorry, but I got a bit giddy over this
March 3, 2017 at 4:57 pm #16129I’m not sure. Part of me wants it left alone. Such a classic, and Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, I just don’t know how their greatness could ever be approached, especially Julie Andrews. I just don’t know. I’m going to have to give this some thoughtful consideration.
March 3, 2017 at 7:06 pm #16134I am actually super excited about this!!!!! I understand your reservations @nascfan! I really do! Mary Poppins is such a classic to us and beyond perfect, just how it was. But I’m really excited to see the next chapter in this story! It’s either going to be super awesome or sadly disappointing. But I’m rooting for super awesome!! It will be a new story line, so at least they aren’t just remaking the original.
March 3, 2017 at 8:21 pm #16136Ah, so it’s not a remake, but after the Banks’? That is a new wrinkle. Still, not Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins. I’ll mull it over. I hope it’s awesome too, I really do, and I’m not going to rule it out or condemn it, I just struggle right now.
March 3, 2017 at 8:41 pm #16140There’s actually several books in the Mary Poppins series. So I believe this is the next one. I haven’t read them but really should! But that my understanding of it.
March 3, 2017 at 8:50 pm #16143That’s cool! I should read them too.

Yeah. Van Dyke will return, but still…it’s not Julie. :sideeye:
March 4, 2017 at 9:59 am #16165I think Emily Blunt is perfect casting for Mary Poppins, but like @Nascfan, I’m not sure how I feel about this.
March 5, 2017 at 8:58 pm #16257Good to have Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins,I also heard that Disney Legend Angela Lansbury is in it as well.
March 6, 2017 at 10:44 am #16316March 6, 2017 at 10:25 pm #16404Awesome pic they posted!!! I’m pretty pumped about it! I need to buy all of the Mary Poppins books and read them! I think they would be fun!
March 10, 2017 at 4:18 am #16875I suppose it’s like any much loved character or movie you are bound to feel nervous especially considering the history of the original. Emily Blunt seems a good replacement and hope she puts her own ‘stamp’ on the Mary Poppins rather than just a ‘copy’ if that makes sense.

I’m with you here. I see no need to mess with perfection. I’d rather see movies that COULD have been great but missed the mark re done.

Oh! I should have read on. I thought it was a remake.
April 26, 2017 at 7:04 pm #24230Im trying to keep an open mind. When I saw Emma Watson cast as Belle, I was worried, and it turned out I was correct. Not sure about Emily Blunt. If Poppins is still supposed to be youthful, then I can see that casting. if this is supposed to be many years later, I would rather have Emma Thompson.
