There is truth to that…
June 5, 2017 at 8:57 am #31169Flying Fish in the French press grind is an absolute hit! Will have to try one of the others tomorrow…
June 5, 2017 at 9:12 am #31176Awesome! I liked that one as well.
June 13, 2017 at 10:55 am #33111So, all of you Joffrey’s experts, please help me…DH and I love a full bodied coffee that isn’t bitter…We tend to darker roast but want something on the smoother side. I would love any suggestions as I have never tried any version other then what they serve in the parks when you walk up and ask for coffee. I will say I am a Starbucks fan more then Dunkin Donuts if that helps. I just don’t do SB at Disney because I feel Joffrey’s was there first and was our go to for so long.
Also are the names of the coffees the place where they are served or just names they use, because that would effect our choice as we LOVE the coffee at V&A.
June 13, 2017 at 12:15 pm #33144I’ve enjoyed the V&A blend. It’s very good and has a smooth finish for sure. I also liked Narcoosee’s blend. Beyond that, I haven’t gotten around the horn too much with the Full/Dark brews yet. I will say Jiko has been my least favorite so far.

The names are where the coffee is served, so it’s basically the coffee from that Disney location. They also bag the beans when ordered and give you a certificate that says when they were bagged. It doesn’t sit on a shelf and get picked and packed from a warehouse. The downside to that means it can take a week or more to ship. I prefer to try the coffee from Disney locations I’ve been to but that’s just me.
I would recommend Artist Point based on what you’ve said.
June 13, 2017 at 12:38 pm #33149I agree, Artist Point is a good one to start off with. Yachtsman or Flying Fish as well.
June 14, 2017 at 9:29 am #33285I would say try Flying Fish before Artist Point…
FF has been awesome for me straight out of the gate. AP seems to be very grind/measurement dependent, so you have to get both just right for a perfect cup. I also find FF to be a little smoother with just enough boldness.
To give you my coffee profile to compare by: My absolute favorite cup is a Kona French press from Kona Cafe, but my everyday go-to is SB Cafe Verona. I’m not a fan of most French roasts, and I’m 50/50 on Italian roasts (brand-specific). DD is survival coffee at best now, I cannot remember my last really good cup of coffee from Dunkies. Other brands I will buy are Gevalia (Columbian), Cafe Bustello, Peets, and Caribou .
June 14, 2017 at 9:50 am #33308I know it can make a difference to the taste, so for reference I use whole beans in a beans to cup machine (DeLonghi Magnifica). I don’t have a French press and I don’t use ground coffee. I have to use very specific settings on my machine because I am sensitive to caffeine.
June 15, 2017 at 7:15 am #33406I ground up some Flavors of Africa this morning and it tasted how I’d imagine Africa to taste… Dry, gritty, and a little bitter… Maybe I should have added water? :p
Ok, bad joke aside. I did grind some up and made a french press. Learning from my experience with AP, I went corse on the grind and light on the volume used. What a delicious cup of
June 15, 2017 at 7:41 am #33413Flavors of Africa is actually my favorite roast so far. The wine-like aftertaste does seem to come through and with a smooth finish too.

It is super-smooth. And I like that is is a legit medium roast/medium body coffee. Too often I’m finding mediums that taste like colored water. The label states a high acidity, which I honestly cannot find. Everything about this coffee seems to be well-balanced. A great breakfast cup!
