5 days left of the January challenge y’all! Finish strong!
January 28, 2019 at 7:06 am #101343I have to mark this month down as a fail for me. Between 2 chest colds and travel for work I honestly didnt get anything done. Hoping to start again in Feb and knock it out of the park!
January 28, 2019 at 7:07 am #101344Oh man, that hurts @10dedfish. I’m sorry man! Come out swinging in February!
January 30, 2019 at 9:54 am #101586@10dedfish That’s terrible! I hope you’re feeling better now!
January 30, 2019 at 10:01 am #101587I joined a gym last weekend, something I vowed I would never do again after an absolutely terrible experience with a gym 4 years ago. This one is close to home, not a chain, has a family vibe, is big enough to have good facilities but not so big that it’s intimidating. They are also incredibly military friendly! I mostly joined to get back into kickboxing (my old club closed while I was away ) and also to start lifting with some instruction. But as much as I hate treadmill running if this polar vortex doesn’t let up I may start going to the gym to run too!
Today I went to a class that they have that’s not Crossfit but is inspired by it. I guess maybe you call what we did a circuit. I’ve never lifted weights before but we did three different types of lift: dead lift, squat lift, and then one above your head whatever that was called. Next was push ups and then we finished with 1 minute on the treadmill 5 mph at a 3.5 incline. 10 of each (except the run) progressing down, so repeat the circuit with 9 reps, then 8, etc. I had never lifted before so I had a bar without weights for the first 4 sets to practice form, then for 6 reps down I had 30 lbs. Let me tell you, I ache! I also decided to push myself and for the final 1 minute run I went up to 6 mph.
Surprisingly it was an all female class with a male instructor and I had fun. I also feel super accomplished and energetic now despite the class starting at 5am!
January 31, 2019 at 8:17 am #101630Did it! It was a struggle some days but did it!
@starbee that is awesome! I hope this will help you feel better about yourself. Great workout!January 31, 2019 at 9:22 am #101637@nascfan I’ve got a lot of weight to lose but once I do I’ll feel better about myself great job on the January challenge! I failed some days but I made it more than half so I’m calling it a win!
January 31, 2019 at 9:34 am #101639@starbee Definitely a win! Especially with going back and forth, being in a hotel, definitely a win! Awesome job!
January 31, 2019 at 10:37 am #101648OK so I totally flunked January!!! can we please continue into February so I can try again
January 31, 2019 at 10:41 am #101650I’m sure that shouldn’t be a problem! @10dedfish can you make a sheet for February?
January 31, 2019 at 12:44 pm #101667We could start a new thread for February or I could rename this thread “monthly challenge” and we could continue here. Thoughts?
January 31, 2019 at 12:55 pm #101668Having the month in the header, a new thread, gives a “home” for what the challenge is. If you have a continuing challenge thread, and someone misses the post for the new challenge, they have to back through pages to find what the challenge may be.
January 31, 2019 at 1:16 pm #101671do you guys want a new spreadsheet or just a new tab?

Good point! We’ll start a new one

A new tab works!
