    Hi all –
    We are thinking of visiting WDW 12/28/18- 1/3/19. I know it is a busy time of year, but any sense on what that means in terms of wait times/chaos would be greatly appreciated. Want to make sure we go in eyes wide open.

    I am there Feb 11, leaving on Feb 17 in the morning. I will be there with my Wifey, DD37 and her spouse, GD8, DD20 and a friend and her DD20. We are taking a Class A to the Campgrounds. My oldest is staying at the All Star.

    I avoid the parks on all major holidays. It gets so crowded that magic kingdom will be at capacity, so crowded you cant move, and good luck actually getting on a ride. That is just my opinion.

    This is one of the most busy times to visit WDW, between Christmas and New Year’s. NYE has been known to be the busiest park day of the year. Wait times will probably be hours long, and that’s for things like Haunted Mansion and Pirates. Headliners will be longer.

    Agreed. JMHO – Best time to visit is around December 10. Everyone is back in school, after Tgiving but before Xmas vacations with all the eye candy you can enjoy

    Thanks – very helpful. I knew it would be busy and had seen MK stop taking in new guests and start taking in guests later on during the day. If it is hours long to get on rides that probably limits my desire to go during that time period.

    Any thoughts on the week before Christmas?

    The closer it gets to the holiday the busier the parks get. In early Dec. all the parks are almost deserted.

    This will be the case. One of our D-Cot members who lives locally was reporting a 60 minute wait for Mad Tea Party around New Year’s Eve. I personally haven’t ever seen it longer than 15 minutes. I have only been in December one time just to see what the Christmas season was like. We did not go to a Disney park due to the crowds. Magic Kingdom will reach capacity on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, others may also. Keep in mind that they typically limit guests to resort guests only before they reach full capacity and close completely, so if you’re not staying at a WDW resort that may also affect your experience.

    To put things in perspective: Orlando, FL (due to places like Universal and Walt Disney World) is the MOST popular destination for New Year’s Eve in the United States. New York (for Time Square) is at a distant second place. Las Vegas is firmly in third.

    The week before Christmas will still be quite busy. However if it’s between that and the week between, and those are your only options, through well placed FP’s and good planning, you can still do quite a bit and enjoy the Christmas festivities the week before. It will be crowded, it will be busy, but if you plan it out well you can have a great time.
