Dopey Challenge January 2018 Day 7

Monday January 8th:
6am wake up. Those first few steps out of bed were a bit painful. But once I got showered, I was walking completely normally, besides from the blisters on my pinky toes. We had breakfast at the resort. Arrived at MK at 9am. Met Scott and Kathy and got some castle pics. Then off to Thunder. We ran into the Country Bears for some pics. They are pretty funny! We saw the Muppets show at 10am. Then walked the Haunted Mansion shop while we waited for Teri to arrive. We used our FP’s for Haunted. Then to the hub for medal pics. Off to Pirates for our FP and meet up with D-cotters. We posed for our ride pic with park maps in our hands! The ride had been down for a bit, so the FP line was backed up. We waved our final goodbyes to the Red Head in the current scene and we got a final picture of her. WE then worked our way to Space Mountain for our FP there. We checked in but waited for Sam and Gail to arrive. We chatted with them for a bit and then said our goodbyes. Off to Casey’s for lunch. Teri and I split a foot long Mac and cheese dog and fries. Ryan had a footlong dog too. It was yummy. It was then time for the hard goodbye with Teri. She needed to head out to go get Kailey from school. Lots of hugs and tears. Scott, Kathy, Ryan and myself then went of the stairs to the train balcony. They have it roped off for special viewing for the parade. But the parade isn’t anytime soon. So we asked the CM if we could use the railing to put our medals on to get pics with the castle in the background. She was happy to do so! We go to talking with her. Then one of the train engineers stopped us and was asking about our medals and the Dopey Challenge. If I remember correctly, he used to run, but hadn’t for many years due to injuries and/or surgeries. But he said after seeing us, he wants to try to get back to running again! We spend a good 20-30 minutes up there. We then went to Starbucks for caffeine!! Then over to the People Mover for a leisurely ride. Then to Carousel of Progress so Ryan and Kathy could nap! It was 4pm and the park was getting crazy crowded.

We all went to our room so Ryan and I could get our Mickey ears so we could get them embroidered at Disney Springs. We then caught the boat to DS. This was the first time we had ever gone from RS to DS by boat! We usually bus to DS then boat back to RS. It was nice to see it in reverse! We walked some shops, got our ears done. Then stopped at Erin McKenna’s for me to get a gluten free brownie cupcake with chocolate frosting for me to eat later. Then we all had dinner at the new Pizza Ponte! It was so delicious and the prices were fantastic! PLUS, we could use our AP discount!! We all agreed that it will be a repeat on a future trip! We walked a few more shops. Scott and Kathy were tired and ready to get some rest. So we said goodbye for the evening. Ryan and I stopped in the Co-Op, this is one of our favorites “stores” since it’s ever changing. We stopped in and got Dopey Challenge phone cases made! Then over to Ghirradellis for Ryan and I ate my cupcake there. We walked some shops on the way to the boat back to Riverside. We stopped in and filled our mug in the food court. Back to our room to pack up because tomorrow we go back home. Lights out at 11:30pm. It took a long time to pack up from this trip! So many running clothes and layers!! And lots of souvenirs!
