So are there coffee carts at the start and finish? Also what was the pre-run food you were eating in your room? I’m curious what you brought to eat before the race. I’m trying to think of everything as I decide if I’ll do this or not :)

@starbee There is usually a Joffrey’s coffee truck at the finish for each race. I THINK they were at the start for all races, but I can’t remember for sure. I’ve started just making myself a coffee in our hotel room. You need to practice foods for fueling to see what works for you. We made oatmeal in our room and used to coffee maker for hot water. We usually do a protein smoothie too. We kind of burnt out on oatmeal. But granola bars can work. Rice cakes with a nut butter works. Some people do bagels and peanut butter. I run with Tailwind for electrolytes and Honey Stinger chews for my fuel.

Just curious on the Joffrey’s. I would need it at the end more than the start I think! I would probably opt to make it in my hotel room too. This is all good info! :)

I totally needed it at the end too! I did use it to wake up before the race in my room for sure. But it was a nice reward at the end of the races! The only one I can’t remember for sure is if they were at the 5k or not. But I know they were at the rest! Be sure to have cash or a credit card on you!

You can’t use your MagicBand I take it?

The Joffrey’s trucks don’t take Magic Bands. At least they didn’t at that time. If you are stopping at a kiosk in Epcot, you can use your Magic Band anywhere that accepts them! Not all kiosks and food places accept the Magic Band. So it’s good to have some cash or a card just in case!

That’s good to know, I thought all of WDW had switched to accept the Magic Band, but at a temporary location that makes total sense. Never would have thought of that!

Happy to help! I think they even had a sign posted stating cash or cards only. So it’s best to be prepared, just in case.

I like to have as little as possible on me while I’m running so I definitely wouldn’t have had either on me without your suggestion!

I think I had read it prior to our races so we were prepared with cash! I also highly recommend running with some sort of bag (like a plastic grocery bag) tucked in a pocket. This will help you at the end of the race when you are trying to juggle holding a banana, water bottle, Powerade bottle and snack box while trying to get finisher pics and then loading the bus! Plus you have whatever you carried while you ran!

Another great tip! thank you! :) so what did you carry with you during the race? For races here I usually have a fanny pack (it’s not stylish, I know) to hold things like my car keys, wallet, gloves if I start out wearing them and it warms up, my phone, etc. like I said I want to have as little as possible on me during the Dopey races. I need to think about the essentials and the best way to carry them with me. I now have an armband thing for my phone. It was too awkward to wear with earbuds before but now I have bluetooth earbuds so I don’t have to worry about getting tangled up in the cord! LOL

You’re welcome! I carry everything in my water bottle holder! It has a big pouch on it that holds my phone, tissues, energy chews and chapstick! For the marathon I used my back pocket on my running shorts to carry extra electrolytes to add to my water bottle on the course and extra energy chews. If you are comfortable wearing a fanny pack while running, do it! Many people wear various types of running belts! Never try anything new on race day. Practice running, especially at least one long run, with what you plan to wear and carry for race days! I buy cheap disposable gloves and long socks to wear as sleeves. Then as you run and get hot, you chuck those to the side of the road.
