And then you just hold the water bottle? Would you mind PMing me an example of the disposable gloves you use? And the type of water bottle holder? Need some good ideas, I don’t know anything about this stuff! :P good idea to practice how you play and not try anything new on race day!

@starbee They don’t make the exact water bottle holder I use. But here is one that’s similar!

For my chuck gloves I buy the $3 from Target that have the touch screen compatible fingers. I bought a bunch of them and ended up wearing two pairs at once since it was so cold. I put those hand warmer packs in the first pair. For chuck arm sleeves I buy the $2-3 long socks at Target and cut the tip of the toes off. I wore two pairs at once due to cold temps. Always practice everything before race day! Pack and use your own foods and fuels. I attached a pic of me during the full marathon. You can see the sock arm sleeves, the gloves and my water bottle holder!

You are so awesome!!! Have I told you that? :) that is really helpful, I like the water bottle idea so much better than wearing a fanny pack or running belt! I will try both before race day and see which works best for me. I would never have thought to go to Target but I have seen the gloves you’re talking about! I will have to stock up next time I go! That’s such a great idea!

Aw! Thanks!! I’m happy to help! Plan for all weather options at Dopey! They’ve had record cold, record heat, rain, sunshine, etc! Find what works best for you! And definitely practice with it all! Target was a lifesaver! If you check now, you may even find the gloves on clearance! Stock up now! The long socks are the individual pairs you buy. I like them because the material is soft and not scratchy! My skin is super sensitive so I actually washed all of the socks and gloves before leaving for the races. I had also found the giant bag with at least a dozen sets of the hand warmers on clearance around this time of year and saved them for Dopey!

Good plan! Be prepared for every possible scenario. I may just stop by Target tonight!

@starbee Exactly!! We started buying all sorts of things before we even registered! It never fails that if you wait until next winter, you won’t find what you want! I also highly recommend buying a lot of Mylar blankets to take to use before you start the race. They usually give the verbal reminder to make sure you remove and throw your Mylar blankets to the side before crossing the start line. The Mylar interferes with the timing mats ability to read your tracking chip. You can usually buy them for less than $2 at Sporting goods stores. Sometimes Target has then. I also recommend getting cheap disposable ponchos for less than $2 at Target or sporting goods stores too. That way if it does rain, you can wear it at least before the race! You could wear the poncho during the race but you likely wouldn’t get any pics because they won’t be able to read your bib number.
